Parametric Analysis of Spiking Neurons in 16 nm Fin Field‐Effect Transistor Technology

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
Energy efficient computing has driven a shift toward brain‐inspired neuromorphic hardware. This study explores the design of three distinct silicon neuron topologies implemented in 16 nm fin field‐Effect transistor technology. While the Axon‐Hillock design achieves gigahertz throughput, its functional fragility persists. The Morris–Lecar model captures

Exploiting Ferroelectric and Spintronic Dynamics for Neural Network Computation

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Ferroelectric and spintronic devices, relying on the control of polarization and magnetization, offer intrinsically fast, durable, energy‐efficient, and low‐latency building blocks for analog in‐memory computing. The hysteretic dynamics of an order parameter are leveraged to provide nonvolatile, multistate memory and nonlinear switching. Brain‐inspired

Experimental Study of the Effect of Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) and Injection Timing on Emitted Emissions at Idle Period

open access: yesAl-Khawarizmi Engineering Journal, 2014
Heavy-duty diesel vehicle idling consumes fossil fuel and reduces atmospheric quality at idle period, but its restriction cannot simply be proscribed. A comprehensive tailpipe emissions database to describe idling impacts is not yet available. This paper

Talk to Your Data: An Agentic Artificial Intelligence‐Driven Decision‐Support Framework for Prosumer Energy Optimization and Recommendations

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
An agentic AI‐driven decision‐support framework for prosumers is proposed, integrating PV generation, load profiling, and multihorizon optimization within a four‐agent architecture. The approach significantly reduces grid dependence, enhances self‐sufficiency and prevents system oversizing.

The Herfindahl neutral point: A firm‐level threshold for managing market concentration with evidence from US hog packing

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Agricultural Economics, EarlyView.
Abstract This paper derives a firm‐level threshold, the Herfindahl Neutral Point, from the standard concentration index used in merger review. At this threshold, a marginal expansion leaves the index unchanged. Firms below the threshold reduce concentration when they expand; firms above it increase concentration.

Improving CPU Energy Efficiency for Low Latency Use Cases With Software-Defined Core Labeling

open access: yesIEEE Access
In this paper, we address the energy efficiency problems in general-purpose servers used for low-latency use cases. In use cases with strict latency requirements, power-saving features of Central Processing Unit (CPU) such as CPU idle are typically ...

Crop insurance and irrigation behavior: The conditional role of pumping costs

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Agricultural Economics, EarlyView.
Abstract Excessive water use for irrigation can accelerate the depletion of water resources, undermining agriculture's resilience to weather‐related shocks. Understanding how farmers make water use decisions is essential for developing effective water management policies.
