Using the CIP Protocol with IEC 61499 Communication Function Blocks
2007 5th IEEE International Conference on Industrial Informatics, 2007IEC61499 is introduced as a design tool for distributed automation systems. The CIP industrial communication protocol is then described. The paper goes on to describe why this protocol is an appropriate service for use with Communication Function Blocks and shows a framework for implementation using EtherNet/IP as the communication medium.

A behavior model for IEC 61499 function blocks
2004This paper deals with designing industrial applications to control critical processes. This kind of applications has to respect some real time constraints. A component-based approach called function blocks (IEC 61499 standard) is classically used to specify such software and its execution support. A function block is an event trigger component.
