High frequency IGCT operation for DC transformer

open access: yes, 2022
In spite of the dominance of ac technology for the vast majority of power transmission and distribution since the late 19th century, the past decades have seen an increase in use of dc electrical power. In particular, this has been the case both in high voltage transmission, and in low voltage islanded dc grids such as shipboard power distributions ...

Cryogenic DC Circuit Breaker Based on High‐Power Press‐Pack IGBT

open access: yesIET Electric Power Applications, Volume 19, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
This paper presents the performance of cryogenically compatible 3.3 kV/1.5 kA PP‐IGBTs as the main circuit breaker in a hybrid circuit breaker. The 3.3 kV/1.5 kA press‐pack IGBT can interrupt currents exceeding 5.1 kA when immersed in a liquid nitrogen bath. PP‐IGBTs are promising candidates for high‐power circuit breakers in cryogenically cooled power

Ageing Behaviours and Mechanisms of SiC MOSFET and Si IGBT in DC Solid‐State Circuit Breaker

open access: yesIET Electric Power Applications, Volume 19, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
We propose that this distributed thermal profile in IGBT mitigates localised stress. Conversely, the high concentration of thermal stress in SiC MOSFET's gate region leads to its severe ageing. ABSTRACT The rapid development of DC power systems in applications such as electric aircraft and microgrids has highlighted the need for high‐performance DC ...

Hybrid IGBT/IGCT‐Based DC‐Hub for Interconnection of VSC/LCC Future DC Networks

open access: yesIET Power Electronics, Volume 18, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
ABSTRACT The interest in interconnecting multiple DC grids‐ medium‐voltage direct current/high‐voltage direct current (MVDC/HVDC)‐ across the globe has grown significantly in recent years. This interest is primarily driven by the benefits of increased reliability and cost efficiency in power transmission systems, particularly with the growing ...

Psychological treatment of social anxiety disorder: a meta-analysis. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Background Older meta-analyses of the effects of psychological treatments of social anxiety disorder have found that these treatments have moderate to large effects. However, these earlier meta-analyses also included non-randomized studies, and there are

An Overview of VSC‐HVDC Systems and Challenges to Harvest Wind Energy Potential Considering South Asian Region as a Case Study

open access: yesInternational Journal of Energy Research, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
The voltage source converter‐based high voltage direct current transmission (VSC‐HVDC) is considered the most appropriate option to harness the maximum potential of renewable energy, particularly offshore wind. With improved reliability and functionality of the network, reduced conversion losses, and reduced cost, the VSC‐based multiterminal direct ...
