Ignition and combustion characteristics of metallized propellants [PDF]

open access: yes
Research designed to develop detailed knowledge of the secondary atomization and ignition characteristics of aluminum slurry propellants was started. These processes are studied because they are the controlling factors limiting the combustion efficiency ...

Unraveling Alkali Ion Electron Donation for Enhancing Heterogeneous Catalytic Oxidation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A new mechanistic pathway for potassium (K) ions as electron donors is identified by constructing single K ion chains confined within hexagonal WO3 tunnels. The as‐produced high‐electron‐density Kδ+ (0<δ<1) ions not only facilitate the formation of oxygen vacancies that behave classical electronic effect but, more importantly, also directly donate ...

Free-piston Stirling hydraulic engine and drive system for automobiles [PDF]

open access: yes
The calculated fuel economy for an automotive free piston Stirling hydraulic engine and drive system using a pneumatic accumulator with the fuel economy of both a conventional 1980 spark ignition engine in an X body class vehicle and the estimated fuel ...

Iron Nanoparticles on Porous Carbon Discs: Electrocatalysts with Over 30% Energy Efficiencies for the Production of Ammonia from Nitrate

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Iron nanoparticles on carbon disc matrixes (CD@Fe) are engineered, showing a high surface area of 424 m2 g−1 and micro/mesoporosity. The CD@Fe showed promising electrocatalytic performance for the nitrate reduction to ammonia with ammonia yield rates of 1.8–13.5 mg h−1 cm−2 at overpotentials of −0.2–−0.6 V (vs.

Toward decarbonization of the titanium industry via hydrogen plasma smelting reduction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Hydrogen plasma smelting reduction enables direct, zero‐carbon conversion of low‐grade ilmenite into steel‐grade iron and a titania‐rich precursor for pigment production. The single‐step process merges smelting and refining, sharply lowers silica content, and offers a breakthrough path for sustainable, high‐value extraction from abundant mineral sands.

Trifunctional DOPO‐Engineered Polypropylene Separator With Li⁺‐Concentrating Interfaces for High‐Safety Lithium‐Ion Batteries Under Extreme Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A DOPO‐based cross‐linked polymer creates a multifunctional separator for lithium‐ion batteries. It concurrently addresses safety (flame retardancy, thermal stability) and performance (enhanced Li+ transport, capacity retention), pioneering a novel approach to high‐performance battery design. Abstract This study develops a cross‐linked polymer modified

An analytical study of the hydrogen-air reaction mechanism with application to scramjet combustion [PDF]

open access: yes
A chemical kinetic mechanism for the combustion of hydrogen has been assembled and optimized by comparing the observed behavior as determined in shock tube and flame studies with that predicted by the mechanism.
