Laser-Stimulated Ignition in a Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition Engine

open access: yes, 2004
A laser-induced spark was generated inside the combustion chamber of a reciprocating engine running in Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition (HCCI) mode to investigate the influence of the plasma on combustion performance.

Deciphering Polarity Effects of Polymer to Regulate Li+ Ionic Environment in Solid Polymer Electrolytes for Solid‐State Lithium Batteries

open access: yesCarbon Energy, EarlyView.
We elucidate the fundamental influences of polymer polarity on Li+ ionic environments in solid polymer electrolytes by considering four critical components: Li+, FSI−, residual solvents, and polymer matrix. Beyond facilitating LiFSI dissociation and Li+ transport, our findings underscore previously overlooked roles of polymer polarity, thereby ...

Durable Fuel Cell Cathode Enabled by Pt Embedded Nanoscale Carbon Network via a Scalable Process

open access: yesCarbon Energy, EarlyView.
Platinum nanoparticles embedded nanoscale carbon network (Pt‐e‐Cn) are developed via a scalable flame spray pyrolysis process. Proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFC) employing mesoporous Pt‐e‐Cn cathode electrocatalysts exhibit exceptional durability without compromising performance.

Catalyst‐Free Cyanation of Arenes by Acetonitrile in a Plasma–Liquid Microreactor

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
An original approach of arylnitrile synthesis was developed by generating an argon plasma in contact with solutions of arene in acetonitrile within a gas‐liquid microreactor. Plasma activation of acetonitrile generated cyano radicals, enabling a catalyst‐free C‐H cyanation of arenes.

Free convection boundary layers driven by exothermic surface reactions: critical ambient temperatures

open access: yes, 1995
A model for the free convection boundary-layer flow near a forward stagnation point driven by heating from a surface on which there is a catalytic reaction is discussed.

Flow and combustion in disc and pent-roof SI engines [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Reported in this thesis is a study of combustion in a disc-shaped combustion chamber spark ignition engine, and in-cylinder flow and combustion in an idealised pent-roof spark ignition engine. Both engines were skip fired, to remove residuals and ensure
