Coelomic Endoscopy of the Green Iguana, Iguana iguana

Journal of Herpetological Medicine and Surgery, 2004
ABSTRACT This is the first study evaluating coelomic endoscopy in any reptile species, and describes a bilateral coelioscopic technique that was performed on 32 juvenile green iguanas, Iguana iguana, under general anesthesia using a 2.7 mm telescope system.

Orbital Abscess in a Green Iguana, Iguana iguana

Bulletin of the Association of Reptilian and Amphibian Veterinarians, 1999
ABSTRACT The primary clinical signs of orbital disease are exophthalmos, enophthalmos and strabismus. The secondary clinical signs of orbital disease include periorbital swelling, ocular discharge, vision loss, exposure keratitis and pain. An understanding of orbital anatomy is critical for selecting appropriate diagnostic tests and therapy of ...

The amino acid sequence of iguana (Iguana iguana) pancreatic ribonuclease

European Journal of Biochemistry, 1994
The pyrimidine‐specific ribonuclease superfamily constitutes a group of homologous proteins so far found only in higher vertebrates. Four separate families are found in mammals, which have resulted from gene duplications in mammalian ancestors.

Nephromegaly due to Disruption of Nephrons in the Green Iguana (Iguana iguana)

Journal of Comparative Pathology, 2020
We describe a fatal kidney disease in green iguanas (Iguana iguana), associated with severe nephromegaly. Affected animals have enlarged kidneys, which fill the pelvic cavity, leading to compression of adjacent organs, obstipation and, ultimately, death.

Selective absorption of carotenoids in the common green iguana (Iguana iguana)

Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part A: Molecular & Integrative Physiology, 2002
In the animal kingdom, species-specific differences with regard to the absorption of intact carotenoids are observed. The causes of these differences are not entirely understood. To investigate the absorption of selected carotenoids, 20 juvenile green iguanas (Iguana iguana) were fed a carotenoid deficient basal diet for 56 days.

Genetic Structure and Variability in the Green Iguana (Iguana iguana)

Journal of Herpetology, 1988
A population of green iguanas (Iguana iguana) that inhabits the forests around Gatun Lake in central Panama faces an apparent scarcity of suitable nesting sites. To investigate whether the disjunct distribution of nesting sites in this area and strong nesting site fidelity by female iguanas has contributed to genetic structuring of the population ...

[Urolithiasis in a green iguana (Iguana iguana)].

Tierarztliche Praxis, 1994
In this report surgery on the urinary bladder of an iguana is documented. Clinical signs, palpation and radiography failed to reveal the cause of the illness. During surgery a distended urinary bladder which contained an urolith 3 x 2 cm in size was found and removed.
