CAPTCHA-based image annotation

Information Processing Letters, 2017
Abstract Although crowdsourcing-based image annotation services are accurate, they easily become too costly to assign proper labels on all the images on the Internet. In this paper, we propose a practical, efficient, and accurate CAPTCHA-based image annotation technique that requires no or little additional cost.

Computing human image annotation

2009 Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 2009
An image annotation is the explanatory or descriptive information about the pixel data of an image that is generated by a human (or machine) observer. An image markup is the graphical symbols placed over the image to depict an annotation. In the majority of current, clinical and research imaging practice, markup is captured in proprietary formats and ...

Geolocation based image annotation

The First Asian Conference on Pattern Recognition, 2011
The growth of photo-sharing website such as Flickr and Picasa enables us to access the billions of images easily. Recent years, many researchers leverage such photo-sharing site to tackle the image annotation problem. The aim of the image annotation is to give a proper label to an unknown image.

Annotating Images

Images require an act of interpretation in order to capture their semantic content for (computational) retrieval and analysis, as there is no equivalent process such as transcription for text. The creation of image annotations is, therefore, a complex undertaking but a prerequisite not only for the application of digital methods to art historical ...

Mining partially annotated images

Proceedings of the 17th ACM SIGKDD international conference on Knowledge discovery and data mining, 2011
In this paper, we study the problem of mining partially annotated images. We first define what the problem of mining partially annotated images is, and argue that in many real-world applications annotated images are typically partially annotated and thus that the problem of mining partially annotated images exists in many situations. We then propose an

Annotation and Retrieval of Cell Images

2010
A multi-net neural computing system is described that can be used for classifying images based on intrinsic image features and extrinsic collateral linguistic description of the contents. A novel representation scheme based on wavelet analysis of images and a subsequent Zernike moment computation helps in a systematic extraction of image features ...

Supervised LDA for Image Annotation

2011 IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics, 2011
Region-based Image Annotation has received increasing attention in recent years. Topic models such as probabilistic Latent Semantic Analysis (PLSA) and Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) have shown great success in object recognition and localization. In this paper, we introduce a supervised topic model for region-based image annotation.

A Study of Vocabularies for Image Annotation

2007
In order to evaluate image annotation and object categorisation algorithms, ground truth in the form of a set of images correctly annotated with text describing each image is required. Statistics on the WordNet categories of keywords collected from recent automated image annotation and object categorisation publications and evaluation campaigns are ...

A Probability Model for Image Annotation

Multimedia and Expo, 2007 IEEE International Conference on, 2007
Automatic image annotation is a promising solution to enable more effective image retrieval by keywords. Traditionally, statistical models for image auto-annotation predicate each annotated keyword independently without considering the correlation of words.

An Image Annotation Guide Agent

2005
The performance of retrieving an image in terms of text-type of queries depends heavily on the quality of the annotated descriptive metadata that describes the content of the images. However, the effective annotation of an image can often be a laborious task that requires consistent domain knowledge.
