A Survey of Restoration and Enhancement for Underwater Images

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Images captured underwater usually suffer from color distortion, detail blurring, low contrast, and a bluish or greenish tone due to light scattering and absorption in the underwater medium, which in turn the visibility is adversely affected by these ...

PYCR1 inhibition in bone marrow stromal cells enhances bortezomib sensitivity in multiple myeloma cells by altering their metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study investigated how PYCR1 inhibition in bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs) indirectly affects multiple myeloma (MM) cell metabolism and viability. Culturing MM cells in conditioned medium from PYCR1‐silenced BMSCs impaired oxidative phosphorylation and increased sensitivity to bortezomib.

Image restoration with group sparse representation and low‐rank group residual learning

open access: yesIET Image Processing
Image restoration, as a fundamental research topic of image processing, is to reconstruct the original image from degraded signal using the prior knowledge of image.

Adaptaquin is selectively toxic to glioma stem cells through disruption of iron and cholesterol metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Adaptaquin selectively kills glioma stem cells while sparing differentiated brain cells. Transcriptomic and proteomic analyses show Adaptaquin disrupts iron and cholesterol homeostasis, with iron chelation amplifying cytotoxicity via cholesterol depletion, mitochondrial dysfunction, and elevated reactive oxygen species.

Predictors of response and rational combinations for the novel MCL‐1 inhibitor MIK665 in acute myeloid leukemia

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study characterizes the responses of primary acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patient samples to the MCL‐1 inhibitor MIK665. The results revealed that monocytic differentiation is associated with MIK665 sensitivity. Conversely, elevated ABCB1 expression is a potential biomarker of resistance to the treatment, which can be overcome by the combination ...

An Improved Face Image Restoration Method Based on Denoising Diffusion Probabilistic Models

open access: yesIEEE Access
Image restoration is a crucial task in computer vision, aiming to fill in missing areas within an image to restore its integrity. Traditional methods fall short when dealing with intricate facial image restoration, often failing to produce high-quality ...

Revitalizing Convolutional Network for Image Restoration

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence
Image restoration aims to reconstruct a high-quality image from its corrupted version, playing essential roles in many scenarios. Recent years have witnessed a paradigm shift in image restoration from convolutional neural networks (CNNs) to Transformer ...

The neural crest‐associated gene ERRFI1 is involved in melanoma progression and resistance toward targeted therapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.

Digital Restoration of Ancient Papyri

open access: yes, 2009
Image processing can be used for digital restoration of ancient papyri, that is, for a restoration performed on their digital images. The digital manipulation allows reducing the background signals and enhancing the readability of texts.

Image restoration using deep learning [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We propose a new image restoration method that reduces noise and blur in degraded images. In contrast to many state of the art methods, our method does not rely on intensive iterative approaches, instead it uses a pre-trained convolutional neural ...
