Lung image segmentation by generative adversarial networks [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
Lung image segmentation plays an important role in computer-aid pulmonary diseases diagnosis and treatment. This paper proposed a lung image segmentation method by generative adversarial networks. We employed a variety of generative adversarial networks and use its capability of image translation to perform image segmentation.

A large‐scale retrospective study in metastatic breast cancer patients using circulating tumour DNA and machine learning to predict treatment outcome and progression‐free survival

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
There is an unmet need in metastatic breast cancer patients to monitor therapy response in real time. In this study, we show how a noninvasive and affordable strategy based on sequencing of plasma samples with longitudinal tracking of tumour fraction paired with a statistical model provides valuable information on treatment response in advance of the ...

Salt & pepper noise impact on image coding based on image splitting

open access: yesCommunications, 2000
The paper deals with the influence of noise and two control parameters on a segmentation method for image coding. Dynamic min_max criterion and variance criterion were used as segmentation control parameters.

Segmenting Dermoscopic Images

open access: yes, 2017
We propose an automatic algorithm, named SDI, for the segmentation of skin lesions in dermoscopic images, articulated into three main steps: selection of the image ROI, selection of the segmentation band, and segmentation. We present extensive experimental results achieved by the SDI algorithm on the lesion segmentation dataset made available for the ...

A Segmentation Algorithm for Noisy Images [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
This paper presents a segmentation algorithm for gray-level images and addresses issues related to its performance on noisy images. It formulates an image segmentation problem as a partition of a weighted image neighborhood hypergraph. To overcome the computational difficulty of directly solving this problem, a multilevel hypergraph partitioning has ...

Detecting homologous recombination deficiency for breast cancer through integrative analysis of genomic data

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study develops a semi‐supervised classifier integrating multi‐genomic data (1404 training/5893 validation samples) to improve homologous recombination deficiency (HRD) detection in breast cancer. Our method demonstrates prognostic value and predicts chemotherapy/PARP inhibitor sensitivity in HRD+ tumours.

TRPM8 levels determine tumor vulnerability to channel agonists

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
TRPM8 is a Ca2+ permissive channel. Regardless of the amount of its transcript, high levels of TRPM8 protein mark different tumors, including prostate, breast, colorectal, and lung carcinomas. Targeting TRPM8 with channel agonists stimulates inward calcium currents followed by emptying of cytosolic Ca2+ stores in cancer cells.

A New Approach to Lung Image Segmentation using Fuzzy Possibilistic C-Means Algorithm [PDF]

open access: yesIJCSIS, Vol. 7 No. 3, March 2010, 222-228, 2010
Image segmentation is a vital part of image processing. Segmentation has its application widespread in the field of medical images in order to diagnose curious diseases. The same medical images can be segmented manually. But the accuracy of image segmentation using the segmentation algorithms is more when compared with the manual segmentation.
