Paternal Exposure to the Neonicotinoid Pesticide Clothianidin Alters Sperm MicroRNA Profiles in Mice and Intergenerationally Reduces Locomotor Activity in Male Offspring

open access: yesJournal of Applied Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Accumulating evidence suggests that paternal environmental factors have epigenetic effects on sperm and influence offspring. Neonicotinoid pesticides (NNs), which are widely used around the world, are known to affect offspring phenotypes through maternal exposure in mice, but the effect of the paternal exposure remains unknown.

Combined effects of canola plant density and insecticide management strategies on flea beetle abundance, canola defoliation, and yield across the Canadian prairies

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Increasing canola plant density reduced flea beetle abundance per plant and increased yield, independent of region or insecticide use, highlighting its potential as a component of integrated pest management. Abstract The crucifer flea beetle, Phyllotreta cruciferae (Goeze), and the striped flea beetle, Phyllotreta striolata (Fabricius) (Coleoptera ...

Toxicity, Repellency, and Horizontal Transfer of Foam Insecticides for Remedial Control of an Invasive Drywood Termite, Cryptotermes brevis (Blattodea: Kalotermitidae)

open access: yesBioResources, 2023
Laboratory tests were conducted to compare imidacloprid and fipronil foams against various criteria to determine the effect of the deposit conditions, exposure method, and exposure time on the toxicity, repellency, and horizontal transfer of selected ...

Preliminary acute toxicity study on imidacloprid in Swiss albino mice

open access: yesVeterinary World, 2013
Aim: To ascertain the maximum tolerated dose (MTD) and to investigate the acute oral toxic effects of imidacloprid towards Swiss albino male mice.Materials and Methods: The MTD of imidacloprid was determined in pilot dose range finding study following ...

Chitosan‐protected dsRNA increases efficacy against Helicoverpa armigera without compromising biosafety for pollinators

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Chitosan/tripolyphosphate/double‐stranded RNA (dsRNA) nanoparticles enhance RNA interference efficacy of orally delivered dsRNA against Helicoverpa armigera. Nanoparticles reduce the LC50 and do not cause deleterious effects or toxicity on beneficial insects.

Acute Imidacloprid Poisoning in Thailand.

open access: yesTherapeutics and clinical risk management, 2020
Imidacloprid is the most commonly used neonicotinoid insecticide worldwide. Despite its reputation for safety, there is increasing evidence regarding its toxicity. This study characterized the clinical manifestations and outcomes of acute imidacloprid poisoning. This was a retrospective study of patients with imidacloprid poisoning who were referred to ...

Imidacloprid and Related Compounds: Structure and Water Solubility ofN-Alkyl Derivatives of Imidacloprid [PDF]

open access: yesBioscience, Biotechnology, and Biochemistry, 1998
An intramolecular hydrogen bond between NH•••O2N in insecticide, imidacloprid (1), and its nitromethylene analog 15 was proved by NMR and IR spectra. That electron delocalization over their planar moieties was disrupted by alkylation at the imidazolidine nitrogen atom is demonstrated by the hypsochromic shifts in UV and deshielding effect in NMR ...

Genotype‐by‐environment interaction informs selection for seed physiological quality and stink bug tolerance in soybean under pest management contrasts

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Genotype‐by‐environment interaction shaped soybean seed stability under contrasting insecticide regimes. Seed longevity emerged as a stable, management‐relevant trait under pest pressure. High‐pressure, no‐insecticide conditions improved discrimination of tolerant genotypes for integrated pest management deployment.

Imidacloprid-mediated effects on the reproductive outputs of E. heros couples.

open access: yes, 2016
Effects of sublethal exposure to imidacloprid on the time to the first viable egg laid (A) and to the first nymph emerged (B). Couples of E. heros grouped by the same horizontal line did not differ according to a Tukey’s HSD test (P < 0.05)

Assessing the potential for insecticide cross‐resistance to a novel insecticide in the Colorado potato beetle (Leptinotarsa decemlineata) using phenotypic and transcript expression analysis

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Phenotypic and transcriptional responses to imidacloprid and isocycloseram were examined across U.S. populations of the Colorado potato beetle, showing evidence of phenotypic cross‐resistance alongside population‐level variation in detoxification gene expression.
