Biodegradation of imidacloprid

open access: yes, 2020
Imidacloprid (1-[(6-chloro-3-pyridinyl)methyl]-N-nitro-2-imidazolidinimine), a chloronicotinyl insecticide used to control biting and sucking insects, is very persistent in the soil with a half-life often greater than 100 days. Our objectives were to 1) discover, isolate, and characterize a single microbial species with the ability to degrade ...

Chitosan‐protected dsRNA increases efficacy against Helicoverpa armigera without compromising biosafety for pollinators

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Chitosan/tripolyphosphate/double‐stranded RNA (dsRNA) nanoparticles enhance RNA interference efficacy of orally delivered dsRNA against Helicoverpa armigera. Nanoparticles reduce the LC50 and do not cause deleterious effects or toxicity on beneficial insects.

Residues and Dietary Risk Assessment of Imidacloprid in Bamboo Shoot (Phyllostachys praecox), Winter Jujube (Ziziphus jujuba Mill. cv. Dongzao), Dendrobium officinale Kimura et Migo, and Fritillaria

open access: yesAgronomy, 2023
The widespread use of pesticides poses significant risks to food and environmental safety. Imidacloprid is one of the most effective neuroactive neonicotinoid insecticides and is effective against a broad spectrum of piercing–sucking pests.

Genotype‐by‐environment interaction informs selection for seed physiological quality and stink bug tolerance in soybean under pest management contrasts

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Genotype‐by‐environment interaction shaped soybean seed stability under contrasting insecticide regimes. Seed longevity emerged as a stable, management‐relevant trait under pest pressure. High‐pressure, no‐insecticide conditions improved discrimination of tolerant genotypes for integrated pest management deployment.

The gut symbiont Sphingomonas mediates imidacloprid resistance in the important agricultural insect pest Aphis gossypii Glover

open access: yesBMC Biology, 2023
Background Neonicotinoid insecticides are applied worldwide for the control of agricultural insect pests. The evolution of neonicotinoid resistance has led to the failure of pest control in the field.

Imidacloprid in processed tea and tea liquor [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Zhejiang University SCIENCE B, 2006
Imidacloprid is a newly introduced broad-spectrum chloronicotinyl insecticide and will find its way in agricultural production, particularly in Asia. However, information on the fate of imidacloprid in crop plants is lacking. The degradation of imidacloprid in processed CTC tea and tea liquor was investigated in the present study in which imidacloprid ...

Pesticide use in integrated pest and pollinator management framework to protect pollinator health

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 81, Issue 4, Page 1691-1696, April 2025.
Integrated pest management (IPM) emphasizes non‐chemical methods, with pesticides as a last resort, while integrated pest and pollinator management (IPPM) integrates pollinator health into pest control strategies. Abstract Agricultural pesticides have historically been a critical tool in controlling pests and diseases, preventing widespread suffering ...

Fluidized-bed Fenton treatment of imidacloprid: Optimization and degradation pathway

open access: yesSustainable Environment Research, 2018
Environmental impact of pesticides is one of the great concerns being addressed by water-food nexus research. Imidacloprid is one of the most used insecticides as an alternative for carcinogenic organochloride insecticides.

Neonicotinoid insecticides imidacloprid and clothianidin affect differently neural Kenyon cell death in the cockroach Periplaneta americana [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The intracellular toxicity of the neonicotinoid insecticides imidacloprid and clothianidin was studied on cockroach Periplaneta americana Kenyon cells using the trypan blue exclusion test and the adenylate kinase (AK) detection reagent.

Metabolism of Imidacloprid in Houseflies

open access: yesJournal of Pesticide Science, 2004
Metabolism of imidacloprid in the housefly Musca domestica was investigated. After the injection of 14C-labeled imidacloprid, radioactivity decreased to approximately 20% of the initial level within 24 hr. Most of the 14C in the excreta as well as that in the insect body was accounted for by an olefin derivative of imidacloprid.
