Primary enuresis and comorbid sleepwalking in an adolescent: Diagnostic and therapeutic challenges, a case report from rural Nepal

open access: yesJournal of Karnali Academy of Health Sciences
Primary nocturnal enuresis (PNE) and somnambulism are categorized as arousal disorders resulting from non-rapid eye movement (NREM) sleep. These diseases have a shared neurophysiological basis: poor arousal from slow-wave sleep.

Serotonin uptake in cerebral cortex cultures: imipramine-like inhibition by N-isopropyl-p-iodoamphetamine

open access: yes, 1989
In cultured rat neocortex, uptake of [3H]serotonin (5-HT) and the SPECT radiopharmaceutical N-isopropyl-p-[123I]iodoamphetamine (IMP) was demonstrated after 4 and 14 days in vitro. Both imipramine and cold IMP inhibited [3H]5-HT uptake.

Imipramine as an alternative to formamide to detubulate rat ventricular cardiomyocytes

open access: yes, 2019
International audienceT-tubules are membrane invaginations essential for the excitation-contraction coupling (ECC). Imipramine like other cationic amphiphilic drugs, interfere with the PI(4,5)P2 interactions with proteins maintaining the tubular system ...

Decreased Plasma Concentrations of Imipramine and Desipramine Following Cholestyramine Intake in Depressed Patients

open access: yes, 1994
The effect of cholestyramine (4 g t.i.d. for 5 days) on the steady-state plasma concentrations of imipramine and desipramine was assessed in six depressed patients receiving chronic treatment with imipramine (75-150 mg/day).

Imipramine Increases Norepinephrine and Serotonin in the Salivary Glands of Rats

open access: yesBiology
Xerostomia induced by antidepressants such as imipramine has long been thought to be due to their anticholinergic effects. However, even antidepressants with low anticholinergic effects may have a high incidence of xerostomia.

The Imipramine Binding Site: Effects of Aging, Ovarian Hormones, Adrenal Hormones, and Chronic Antidepressant Treatment

open access: yes
131 p.Thesis (Ph.D.)--University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, 1985.Binding sites for the antidepressant imipramine have been described in the brain and blood platelets of several species of animals, including rats and humans.

Modulation of neuronal serotonin uptake by a putative endogenous ligand of imipramine recognition sites

open access: yes, 1983
Imipramine inhibits the serotonin uptake by binding with high affinity to regulatory sites of this uptake located on axons that release serotonin. The number of imipramine recognition sites located on crude synaptic membrane preparations is reduced by ...
