Accuracy Tests of Frequency Domain Immersion Technique

Advances in Optical Imaging and Photon Migration, 1998
We use comparison with conventional techniques and Mie theory to test the accuracy of the frequency domair immersion technique for absorption and scattering property measurements.

High accuracy frequency domain immersion technique

Technical Digest. Summaries of papers presented at the Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics. Postconference Edition. CLEO '99. Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics (IEEE Cat. No.99CH37013), 2003
Summary form only given. For an intensity modulated source, light propagation in turbid media can be described by diffuse photon density waves. Through measuring these waves, the optical properties of the medium can be determined. In the near infrared photon migration in tissue is described by diffusion, since scattering dominates absorption.

Frequency response of a self-actuating cantilever sensor immersed in fluid

Journal of Mechanical Science and Technology, 2021
This work aims at studying the resonant frequency response of self-actuating piezoelectric rectangular and stepped cantilever sensors and using these results to determine the density of a fluidic media. The electric impedance analyzer is used to determine the resonant frequencies of the two cantilevers under the vacuum, air and partially-immersed ...

Radio-Frequency Noise of an Immersed Langmuir Probe

Journal of Applied Physics, 1962
The rf noise power spectrum at a Langmuir probe in a cold-cathode neon discharge is observed over a 50-kc to 10-Mc range. The statistical noise amplitude distribution function is found to be Gaussian and the probe noise can be analyzed in terms of shot noise of the probe electron and ion currents using a substantially constant probe sheath impedance at

Frequency effect of an oscillating plate immersed in a turbulent boundary layer

2nd Shear Flow Conference, 1989
A phase-averaging technique was employed to investigate flow structures downstream of an oscillating bluff plate immersed in a turbulent boundary layer. The Reynolds number based on the maximum plate height was kept at 7.8×10 3 . The reduced frequency of the oscillating plate was varied in a range from 0.002 to 0.013.

High-frequency noise in probes immersed in gas discharges

Physica, 1963
Probes immersed in a gas discharge give noise with an equivalent saturated diode current I/sub eq/=(I/sub eqO/ + A omega /sup alpha / and an a-c probe conductance G/sub p/ = (G/sub po/+ B omega /sup alpha /), where alpha approx equal 1.3 f or an unshielded probe in an unshielded tube and alpha approx equal 2 for a shielded probe in a shielded tube ...

Resonant frequencies of a rectangular cantilever beam immersed in a fluid

Journal of Applied Physics, 2006
The resonant frequencies of cantilever beams can depend strongly on the fluid in which they are immersed. In this article, we expand on the method of Elmer and Dreier [J. Appl. Phys. 81, 7709 (1997)] and derive explicit analytical formulas for the flexural and torsional resonant frequencies of a rectangular cantilever beam immersed in an inviscid fluid.

Resonant frequencies of rectangular plates immersed in fluids

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2011
The response of a fluid-loaded structure is a subject of considerable interests in many areas of engineering. This includes applications in aerospace industry for composite structures, design of offshore and building structures partially immersed in water, and the design of rectangular micro-plates for bio-sensing devices. For many decades, it has been

Solid-immersion imaging interferometric nanoscopy to the limits of available frequency space

Journal of the Optical Society of America A, 2012
Imaging interferometric nanoscopy (IIN) is a synthetic aperture approach offering the potential of optical resolution to the linear-system limit of optics (~λ/4n). The immersion advantages of IIN can be realized if the object is in close proximity to a solid-immersion medium with illumination and collection through the substrate and coupling this ...

A low frequency broadband flexural mode ultrasonic transducer for immersion applications

2014 IEEE International Ultrasonics Symposium, 2014
Ultrasonic transducers for broadband water-coupled operation in the low ultrasonic 30–100 kHz frequency range find their application in different industrial and biomedical areas, such as non-destructive testing and therapy. In this paper we propose the design and the fabrication process of a multi-cell, piezoelectrically-actuated, flexural-mode ...
