The Risk of Adverse Birth Outcomes Among Twin Pregnancies After Influenza and Pertussis Vaccinations During Pregnancy: A Data Linkage Study

open access: yesBJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics &Gynaecology, Volume 133, Issue 5, Page 1083-1092, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective To compare risks of adverse birth outcomes between maternally vaccinated and unvaccinated twin pregnancies. Design Multi‐jurisdictional data linkage cohort study. Setting All registered births in Queensland (Qld) and Northern Territory (NT), Australia between 1 January 2012 and 31 December 2017.

Engineering Yeast Extracellular Vesicle Biogenesis Through Rewiring Membrane Trafficking Pathways

open access: yesMicrobial Biotechnology, Volume 19, Issue 4, April 2026.
Engineered Saccharomyces cerevisiae reveals how cell wall remodelling and membrane trafficking coordinate extracellular vesicle biogenesis. Interferon overexpression and chs3 deletion enhance EV secretion and reshape SNARE‐, Rab‐ and ESCRT‐associated pathways, establishing yeast as a versatile platform for EV engineering and therapeutic cargo loading ...

Stakeholder Perspectives on Ear and Hearing Health Service Provision for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Rural Health, Volume 34, Issue 2, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective Ear disease and hearing loss are largely preventable; however, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children experience some of the highest rates globally. National and state guidelines recommend involving Aboriginal Health Workers/Practitioners (AHWP) in ear and hearing screening, but no investigation has been conducted into ...

Major Cat Allergen Fel d 4: Structure and Identification of a Cross‐Reactive IgE‐Epitope‐Containing Area

open access: yesAllergy, Volume 81, Issue 4, Page 1075-1088, April 2026.
This study reports the three‐dimensional structure of an important cat allergen, Fel d 4, that shares high homology with Equ c 1 (i.e., major horse allergen) and Can f 6 (i.e., dog allergen). The C‐terminal region of the Fel d 4 contains a major IgE‐reactive epitope.

Passive Antifibrinolytic Immunity.

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1935
As a preliminary to a study of passive antifibrinolytic immunity in laboratory animals, 5% high-titer commercial antistreptococcus serum† was added to freshly-drawn rabbit and rhesus bloods. The resulting passively immunized bloods were allowed to coagulate and serums separate. It was found that within the limits of the experimental error, the specific

Factors Affecting Immune Reconstitution Post‐Allogeneic HSCT in Children: The Case for an Individualized Approach to Vaccination

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Haematology, Volume 116, Issue 4, Page 336-349, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) is increasingly used to treat malignant and non‐malignant diseases. Following allogeneic HSCT, patients are particularly vulnerable to vaccine‐preventable diseases (VPD) because conditioning depletes immune cells, including memory cells.

Immunization strategies against respiratory syncytial virus in Panama: considerations for decision-making in a tropical country—a working group meeting report

open access: yesFrontiers in Public Health
Following the approval of the respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) vaccine and a new monoclonal antibody for passive immunization in children, some Latin American countries have begun using both strategies to prevent RSV-disease.

Advances in hiPSC‐Derived Brain Organoids as a Model to Study Neuroinflammation in Alzheimer's Disease

open access: yesJournal of Neurochemistry, Volume 170, Issue 4, April 2026.
Brain organoids and assembloids derived from human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs) represent a striking advance in biomedical research. These technologies allow a more accurate mimicry of the three‐dimensional cellular environment in vitro, enabling detailed investigations of Alzheimer's disease (AD) pathological features, such as β‐amyloid ...
