Epstein–Barr Virus Infection Related to Low White Blood Cell Count in Cancer Patients Receiving Chemotherapy in Al-Najaf Governorate/Iraq

open access: yesJournal of Pure and Applied Microbiology, 2020
Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) plays the most important role in various types of human cancers. Patients receiving chemotherapy have low white blood cell (WBC) counts that elevate the risk of infection and is the first public health priority in Iraq.

Use of immunoblotting assay improves the sensitivity of paracoccidioidomycosis diagnosis

open access: yesJournal of Venomous Animals and Toxins including Tropical Diseases, 2008
The purpose of this work was to evaluate two serological assays: double immunodiffusion (DI) and immunoblotting (IB) in immunodiagnosis of paracoccidioidomycosis (PCM).

IgM triplet in neonatal diagnosis by immunoblotting and its potential use as a diagnostic marker for congenital toxoplasmosis

open access: yesParasite, 2023
Primary infection during pregnancy by the protozoan Toxoplasma gondii can be worrisome because transmission to the fetus may lead to congenital toxoplasmosis (CT).

Diagnosis of antigenic markers of acute toxoplasmosis by IgG avidity immunoblotting

open access: yesParasite, 2013
To perform IgG avidity immunoblotting assay for detection of acute toxoplasmosis, 100 serum samples were collected from Tehran, Iran. The presence of Toxoplasma-specific IgG and IgM antibodies were checked by commercial Trinity kit.

Enhanced chemiluminescence (ECL) for routine immunoblotting

open access: yesSpermatogenesis, 2011
Immunoblotting is an analytical technique used by many laboratories to study protein expression. It involves electrophoretic separation of proteins by sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE), immobilization of these proteins ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Development and Investigation of Diagnostic Efficiency of a Test Kit for the Detection of IgM-antibodies to Individual Antigens of Rubella Virus by Immunoblotting (Western Blot)

open access: yesЭпидемиология и вакцинопрофилактика, 2020
Relevance. During serological diagnosis of rubella by enzyme immunoassay (detecting IgM), it is possible to obtain an indefinite or false-positive result. In this case, is needed an additional confirmatory test.

A New Method for Quantitative Immunoblotting of Endogenous α-Synuclein

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
β-Sheet-rich aggregates of α-synuclein (αSyn) are the hallmark neuropathology of Parkinson’s disease and related synucleinopathies, whereas the principal native structure of αSyn in healthy cells - unfolded monomer or α-helically folded oligomer - is ...

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.
