Efficacy of dexamethasone combined with intravenous immunoglobulin for the treatment of pediatric autoimmune encephalitis

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology
IntroductionGlucocorticoids and intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) have been established as the primary therapeutic agents for treating autoimmune encephalitis (AE). Methylprednisolone is the most frequently utilized glucocorticoid; however, the potential

Weakening the nuclear envelope: Lamin B receptor in melanoma metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
LBR‐driven nuclear fragility supports melanoma invasion. A: Melanocyte presents low LBR (Lamin B Receptor) levels, maintaining nuclear integrity and lamina‐chromatin tethering. B: During malignant progression, upregulation of LBR clusters at the INM (Inner Nuclear Membrane) during confined migration causes local lamina weakening and cholesterol ...

Loss of proton‐sensing TDAG8 increases tumor progression in mouse models of colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the pH‐sensing receptor TDAG8 accelerates colorectal cancer progression in mice. Animals lacking TDAG8 expression had increased tumor growth, DNA damage, and recruitment of tumor‐associated immune cells, including macrophages, neutrophils, and monocytes.

Killer cell immunoglobulin-like receptors and their ligands : assessment of potential diagnostic and immunotherapeutic value [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Human natural killer (NK) cells constitute an important arm of the innate immune system, which participates in protection against viral infections and elimination of malignant diseases.

Proteasomal degradation of intracellularly expressed Amblyomin‐X limits suicide gene therapy potential in melanoma cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study explores the feasibility of expressing the antitumoral protein Amblyomin‐X through a suicide gene therapy approach and investigates its intracellular fate after gene delivery. Although the gene is efficiently expressed, melanoma cells rapidly degrade the Amblyomin‐X protein via proteasome activity.

Preimmune Control of the Variance of TCR CDR-B3: Insights Gained From Germline Replacement of a TCR Dβ Gene Segment With an Ig DH Gene Segment

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2020
We have previously shown that the sequence of the immunoglobulin diversity gene segment (DH) helps dictate the structure and composition of complementarity determining region 3 of the immunoglobulin heavy chain (CDR-H3).

C-myc and immunoglobulin kappa light chain constant genes are on the 8q+ chromosome of three Burkitt lymphoma lines with t(2;8) translocations [PDF]

open access: yes, 1984
We have determined the localization of c-myc and the immunoglobulin kappa light chain genes on the 8q+/2p- chromosomes of the three Burkitt lymphoma lines BL21, LY66 and LY91 with t(2;8) translocation by in situ hybridization.

Temporal Changes in Total Serum Immunoglobulin E Levels in East German Children and the Effect of Potential Predictors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Background: Elevated total serum immunoglobulin E (IgE) levels are a prominent feature of allergic and parasitic diseases. An epidemiologic study was conducted in East German children to describe trends in the development of total serum IgE levels and ...

Identifying transcription factors controlling the basal expression of human MRP4 highlights a substantial role for Sp1

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The MRP4 transporter exports several drugs and signaling molecules. Here, we identified key promoter elements regulating basal MRP4 expression. Using reporter assays, we defined a conserved region with essential Sp1 and contributory Ets sites, which controlled basal MRP4 expression.

Impact of Selected Natural Bioactive Substances on Immune Response and Tight Junction Proteins in Broiler Chickens

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science
This study was conducted to examine the effect of dietary natural compounds, such as β‐glucan, carotenoids, oligosaccharides and anthocyanins, on immune response and tight junction proteins in broiler chickens.
