Opsonization of Cryptococcus neoformans by human immunoglobulin G: masking of immunoglobulin G by cryptococcal polysaccharide [PDF]

open access: yesInfection and Immunity, 1979
Previous studies have shown that attachment of non-encapsulated cryptococci to macrophages is highly dependent on opsonizing immunoglobulin G (IgG) and that cryptococcal polysaccharide inhibits the attachment phase of phagocytosis. We investigated various mechanisms by which cryptococcal polysaccharide might interfere with the opsonizing action of IgG.

The power of microRNA regulation—insights into immunity and metabolism

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
MicroRNAs are emerging as crucial regulators at the intersection of metabolism and immunity. This review examines how miRNAs coordinate glucose and lipid metabolism while simultaneously modulating T‐cell development and immune responses. Moreover, it highlights how cutting‐edge artificial intelligence applications can identify miRNA biomarkers ...

The cytoskeletal control of B cell receptor and integrin signaling in normal B cells and chronic lymphocytic leukemia

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In lymphoid organs, antigen recognition and B cell receptor signaling rely on integrins and the cytoskeleton. Integrins act as mechanoreceptors, couple B cell receptor activation to cytoskeletal remodeling, and support immune synapse formation as well as antigen extraction.

Recurrence quantification analysis as a tool for the characterization of molecular dynamics simulations

open access: yes, 1998
A molecular dynamics simulation of a Lennard-Jones fluid, and a trajectory of the B1 immunoglobulin G-binding domain of streptococcal protein G (B1-IgG) simulated in water are analyzed by recurrence quantification, which is noteworthy for its ...

Lactoferrin and Immunoglobulin G Concentration in Bovine Milk from Cows with Subclinical Mastitis during the Late Lactation Period [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Background: Lactoferrin and immunoglobulin G in milk have an important role in udder resistance to infection in the involution period. Both proteins express antimicrobial activity- lactoferrin by the binding and sequestration of iron ion; and ...
