Gene segments encoding transmembrane carboxyl termini of immunoglobulin γ chains
Cell, 1981In cell lines producing IgM, secreted and membrane bound forms of immunoglobulin mu heavy chains are produced from two separate mu mRNAs that are identical except for alternative 3' coding sequences. We now show that cell lines producing IgG likewise contain two mRNA species for immunoglobulin gamma chains.

Human Immunoglobulin A Receptor (FcRI, CD89) Function in Transgenic Mice Requires Both FcR γ Chain and CR3 (CD11b/CD18) [PDF]
AbstractEven though more immunoglobulin A (IgA) is produced in humans than all other isotypes combined, relatively little is known about receptors that bind the Fc part of IgA. The myeloid IgA receptor, FcRI (CD89), triggers various effector functions in vitro, but its in vivo role remains unclear.

Cloning and characterization of cDNAs encoding four different canine immunoglobulin γ chains
Veterinary Immunology and Immunopathology, 2001cDNAs encoding four different canine immunoglobulin G (caIgG) gamma chains were identified in this study. One of these IgG gamma chain cDNAs, (caIgG-A), represents 92.5% of the IgG gamma chain cDNAs in a dog spleen cell cDNA library; a second partial IgG gamma chain cDNA (caIgG-B) was also identified in the library. The other two IgG gamma chain cDNAs (

Heterogeneity of Heavy (γ) Chain Preparations from Human γG-Immunoglobulins
Nature, 1966IN recent publications, Cohen1 and Cohen and Porter2 have presented evidence that light chain preparations from partially reduced and iodoacetamide-alkylated γ-globulins of several species are heterogeneous. In glycine-urea starch-gel electrophoresis, pH 7–8, some eight to ten electrophoretically distinct bands were separated.

Integral membrane proteins play a central role in various cellular functions and are important therapeutic targets. However, technical challenges in the overexpression and purification of membrane proteins often represent a limiting factor for biochemical and structural studies.

The present investigation was undertaken to determine whether the light or the heavy immunoglobulin chain is involved in the alternative, non‐immune F(ab')2‐mediated binding to staphylococcal protein A. Purified human polyclonal IgG was mildly reduced with dithiothreitol and alkylated with iodoacetamide.

The purpose of this study was to determine the synthetic sites of IgG in the chicken oviduct by localizing IgG gamma-chain mRNA (IgGgamma mRNA)-expressing cells and the effects of estrogen on their population. Paraffin sections of oviducal tissues from laying hens (approximately 57 weeks old) and immature hens (approximately 16 weeks old) with or ...

AbstractThe mechanism of enhanced presentation of ovalbumin (OVA) internalized as immunoglobulin A (IgA)–OVA via the IgA Fc receptor (FcαR) was analyzed by focusing on the role of the FcαR-associated γ chain. Comparison of B-cell transfectants expressing FcαR plus wild-type (WT) γ chain or γ chain in which the immunoreceptor tyrosine-based activation ...

Nucleotide sequences of the membrane exons of human immunoglobulin pseudo-gamma gene and gamma 1 chain cDNA were determined and compared. The sequences of the membrane exons of the pseudo-gamma gene had no defective mutations in the coding regions or the exon-intron boundaries.

AbstractSelected human lymphoma‐derived and lymphoblastoid cell lines have been characterized and shown to be useful model systems for the expression of either cell surface Ig, or secretory Ig, or both simultaneously. Daudi and Raji cell lines were shown to express surface IgM with no secretion of IgM.
