We report an unusual case of the 'reverse' variant of follicular lymphoma in which the nodules had central parts that stained dark and cuffs that stained pale. Because diagnosis was difficult relying only on formalin-fixed histopathology, we examined the cell surface markers and karyotype.

Since the genes for two of the T cell receptor (TCR) chains (alpha and delta) and for the immunoglobulin (Ig) heavy chains (alpha, gamma, delta, epsilon and mu) are all on the long arm of human chromosome 14, it is of interest to determine if they are genetically linked and, if so, how strongly.

Earlier studies on antisera against Fab of pooled human IgG and IgA myeloma proteins disclosed the presence of class-specific Fd antibodies, the demonstration of which required interaction of heavy and light chains. To extend our knowledge about the antigenic structure of the Fd fragment of human immunoglobulins, antisera were prepared in rabbits ...

Even though more immunoglobulin A (IgA) is produced in humans than all other isotypes combined, relatively little is known about receptors that bind the Fc part of IgA. The myeloid IgA receptor, FcalphaRI (CD89), triggers various effector functions in vitro, but its in vivo role remains unclear.

Gene rearrangement and monoclonality have been detected in non-Hodgkin's lymphomas (NHLs). The semi-nested polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was performed to amplify IgH and the mixed PCR to TCR gamma gene rearrangements. Monoclonal band was observed in 77% of B-cell NHLs with IgH primers and 91% of T-cell NHLs with TCR gamma primers.

Gene rearrangement is an important diagnostic marker of malignant lymphoma, and rearrangements of the immunoglobulin heavy chain (IgH) and T-cell receptor gamma chain (TCRgamma) genes are useful markers for Band T-cell lymphoma, respectively. A polymerase chain reaction (PCR) can be used to analyze clonality in formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded ...

Interleukin 7 (IL-7) stimulates proliferation of normal human and murine B cell precursor (BCP) cells in a distinct fashion, depending on the stage of maturation of the cells. For instance, the productive rearrangement of the immunoglobulin heavy chain gene has been demonstrated to be essential for the response of BCP cells to IL-7 as the single ...
