Immunophenotypic characteristics of plasma cells in POEMS syndrome

open access: yesCytometry Part B: Clinical Cytometry, EarlyView.
Abstract To analyze the immunophenotypic characteristics of plasma cells in patients with polyneuropathy, organomegaly, endocrinopathy, myeloma protein, and skin changes (POEMS) syndrome. This retrospective study included patients with POEMS syndrome hospitalized in the Department of Hematology, Huashan Hospital, from September 2017 to August 2025 ...

Carbon‐Negative Upcycling of Sewage Sludge into Superiorly Stable Gel Via Liquid‐Phase Utilization Strategy for Water‐Remediation

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
This work developed a low‐temperature sludge hydrothermal coupled with gel crosslinking strategy which could upgrade the waste liquid generated from sewage sludge hydrothermal treatment into the hydrothermal‐liquid‐gel. The inventive hydrothermal‐liquid‐gel exhibited the enhanced pollutant removal capability, high synthetic stability, and superior ...

Synergistic Molecular Modulation of ππ Stacking for High‐Performance Pitch‐Derived Hard Carbon Anodes

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
A synergistic molecular strategy is demonstrated to disrupt intrinsic ππ stacking in pitch, boosting 6‐fold sulfonation, yielding a hard carbon with 0.371 nm interlayer spacing and maximized closed pores, and achieving a high reversible capacity, remarkable rate capability (205.6 mAh g−1 at 2 A g−1) and cyclic stability.

Dimensional Engineering of Wet‐Spun MOF‐Based Woven Fabrics for Superior Electromagnetic Wave Absorption

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
This work fabricated MOF‐based woven absorbing fabrics with dimensional engineering via a wet spinning strategy. The absorbing fabrics achieve a reflection loss of −51.47 dB at 2.9 mm, with an effective absorption bandwidth reaching 3.54 GHz. The absorbing fabrics can be freely bent, stretched, and folded, with individual fibers exhibiting a break ...

Walsh & Hoyt: Heavy Chain Diseases (HCDs)

open access: yes, 2005
The heavy chain diseases (HCD) are characterized by neoplastic proliferations of plasma cells that secrete heavy chains unattached to light chains. The five major immunoglobulin classes (alpha, beta, gamma, delta, and sigma) may be involved, with alpha ...

Gut microbiota‐related modulation of immune mechanisms in post‐infarction remodelling and heart failure

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 942-954, April 2025.
Abstract The immune system has long been recognized as a key driver in the progression of heart failure (HF). However, clinical trials targeting immune effectors have consistently failed to improve patient outcome across different HF aetiologies. The activation of the immune system in HF is complex, involving a broad network of pro‐inflammatory and ...
