IgG light chain-independent secretion of heavy chain dimers: consequence for therapeutic antibody production and design [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Rodent monoclonal antibodies with specificity towards important biological targets are developed for therapeutic use by a process of humanisation. This process involves the creation of molecules, which retain the specificity of the rodent antibody but ...

BIMCV COVID-19+: a large annotated dataset of RX and CT images from COVID-19 patients [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
This paper describes BIMCV COVID-19+, a large dataset from the Valencian Region Medical ImageBank (BIMCV) containing chest X-ray images CXR (CR, DX) and computed tomography (CT) imaging of COVID-19+ patients along with their radiological findings and locations, pathologies, radiological reports (in Spanish), DICOM metadata, Polymerase chain reaction ...

Sequences of the joining region genes for immunoglobulin heavy chains and their role in generation of antibody diversity.

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America, 1981
To assess the contribution to immunoglobulin heavy chain diversity made by recombination between variable region (VH) genes and joining region (JH) genes, we have determined the sequence of about 2000 nucleotides spanning the rearranged JH gene cluster ...

B cell mechanobiology in health and disease: emerging techniques and insights into therapeutic responses

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
B cells sense external mechanical forces and convert them into biochemical signals through mechanotransduction. Understanding how malignant B cells respond to physical stimuli represents a groundbreaking area of research. This review examines the key mechano‐related molecules and pathways in B lymphocytes, highlights the most relevant techniques to ...

INDEPENDENT SYNTHESIS OF LIGHT AND HEAVY CHAINS : Quantitation of Light-Chain Production by Mouse Myeloma Variants [PDF]

open access: yes, 1974
The rates of immunoglobulin synthesis have been examined in two MFC-11 cell lines which were independently adapted to tissue culture and in light-chain-producing variants derived from each of them.

Nanobodies that Neutralize HIV

open access: yesVaccines, 2019
Nanobodies or VHH (variable domains of heavy-chain only antibodies) are derived from camelid species such as llamas and camels. Nanobodies isolated and selected through phage display can neutralize a broad range of human immunodeficiency virus type 1 ...

Surfaceome: a new era in the discovery of immune evasion mechanisms of circulating tumor cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the era of immunotherapies, many patients either do not respond or eventually develop resistance. We propose to pave the way for proteomic analysis of surface‐expressed proteins called surfaceome, of circulating tumor cells. This approach seeks to identify immune evasion mechanisms and discover potential therapeutic targets. Circulating tumor cells (

Lack of evidence for a substantial rate of templated mutagenesis in B cell diversification [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
B cell receptor sequences diversify through mutations introduced by purpose-built cellular machinery. A recent paper has concluded that a "templated mutagenesis" process is a major contributor to somatic hypermutation, and therefore immunoglobulin diversification, in mice and humans.

Targeting the MDM2‐MDM4 interaction interface reveals an otherwise therapeutically active wild‐type p53 in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study investigates an alternative approach to reactivating the oncosuppressor p53 in cancer. A short peptide targeting the association of the two p53 inhibitors, MDM2 and MDM4, induces an otherwise therapeutically active p53 with unique features that promote cell death and potentially reduce toxicity towards proliferating nontumor cells.

Cerebrospinal Fluid Analysis in Multiple Sclerosis Diagnosis: An Update [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an immune-mediated demyelinating disease of the central nervous system (CNS) with brain neurodegeneration. MS patients present heterogeneous clinical manifestations in which both genetic and environmental factors are involved ...
