Weakening the nuclear envelope: Lamin B receptor in melanoma metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
LBR‐driven nuclear fragility supports melanoma invasion. A: Melanocyte presents low LBR (Lamin B Receptor) levels, maintaining nuclear integrity and lamina‐chromatin tethering. B: During malignant progression, upregulation of LBR clusters at the INM (Inner Nuclear Membrane) during confined migration causes local lamina weakening and cholesterol ...

Comparison of real-time polymerase chain reaction and serological tests for the confirmation of Mycoplasma pneumoniae infection in children with clinical diagnosis of atypical pneumonia

open access: yes, 2017
Background: Mycoplasma pneumoniae is a common pathogen of respiratory tract infection in children, and its correct and rapid diagnosis is a clinical challenge.

Method for rapid separation of immunoglobulin M from immunoglobulin G antibodies by using reorienting gardients in vertical rotors [PDF]

open access: yes, 1979
The parameters for the use of reorienting gradients in vertical rotors for rapid separation of immunoglobulin M from immunoglobulin G on a preparative scale for the rapid diagnosis of infectious diseases are ...

Functionality of Immunoglobulin G and Immunoglobulin M Antibody Physisorbed on Cellulosic Films

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology, 2017
The functionality and aging mechanism of antibodies physisorbed onto cellulosic films was investigated. Blood grouping antibodies immunoglobulin G (IgG) and immunoglobulin M (IgM) were adsorbed onto smooth cellulose acetate (CAF) and regenerated ...

Long-Term Persistence of Serum-Specific Anti-Chikungunya IgM Antibody - A Case Series of Brazilian Patients

open access: yesRevista da Sociedade Brasileira de Medicina Tropical, 2021
The persistence of serum-specific anti-chikungunya IgM antibodies (CHIKV-IgM) can vary after chikungunya fever (CHIK) infection. However, the factors related to its production are not yet known.

Loss of proton‐sensing TDAG8 increases tumor progression in mouse models of colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the pH‐sensing receptor TDAG8 accelerates colorectal cancer progression in mice. Animals lacking TDAG8 expression had increased tumor growth, DNA damage, and recruitment of tumor‐associated immune cells, including macrophages, neutrophils, and monocytes.

Differential patterns of human immunoglobulin G subclass responses to distinct regions of a single protein, the merozoite surface protein 1 of Plasmodium falciparum

open access: yes, 2001
Comparisons of immunoglobulin G (IgG) subclass responses to the major polymorphic region and to a conserved region of MSP-1 in three cohorts of African villagers exposed to Plasmodium falciparum revealed that responses to Block 2 are predominantly IgG3 ...

Lineage tree analysis of immunoglobulin variable-region gene mutations in autoimmune diseases: chronic activation, normal selection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Autoimmune diseases show high diversity in the affected organs, clinical manifestations and disease dynamics. Yet they all share common features, such as the ectopic germinal centers found in many affected tissues.

Evaluation of Serological Tests Using A60 Antigen for Diagnosis of Tuberculosis [PDF]

open access: yesActa Medica Iranica, 2010
Identification of acid-fast bacilli (AFB) in sputum or tissue samples is among definite diagnostic methods of tuberculosis. However, this method of diagnosis is restricted by certain limitations.

Proteasomal degradation of intracellularly expressed Amblyomin‐X limits suicide gene therapy potential in melanoma cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study explores the feasibility of expressing the antitumoral protein Amblyomin‐X through a suicide gene therapy approach and investigates its intracellular fate after gene delivery. Although the gene is efficiently expressed, melanoma cells rapidly degrade the Amblyomin‐X protein via proteasome activity.
