Immunological-based approaches for cancer therapy

open access: yesClinics, 2018
The immunologic landscape of tumors has been continuously unveiled, providing a new look at the interactions between cancer cells and the immune system. Emerging tumor cells are constantly eliminated by the immune system, but some cells establish a long ...

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Immunologic monitoring

open access: yes, 2003
The development of reliable in vitro assays that could allow the quantitation and characterization of anti-donor alloimmune responses has always been a goal in clinical transplantation, both to predict presensitization to the transplanted tissue and to ...

Interaction of vascular endothelial cells with CD8+ T-cells in vivo [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Transplantation of organs and cells saves and prolongs thousands of lives every year. Surgical techniques were significantly improved but major problems remain, in particular the host’s immune system.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Imunodiagnóstico Immunodiagnosis

open access: yesMemorias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz, 1992
In the last years, the knowledge about immunodiagnosis in schistosomiasis has increased considerably. This was due to a better immunologic understanding of the host-parasite interaction and the evolution of the technical procedures by the introduction of
