Escape from immunotherapy: possible mechanisms that influence tumor regression/progression [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Tumor escape is one major obstacle that has to be addressed prior to designing and delivering successful immunotherapy. There is compelling evidence to support the notion that immunogenic tumors, in murine models and cancer patients, can be rejected by ...

DNA Barcoding‐Enabled Tracking of Lipid Nanoparticles: Drug‐Loading‐Dependent Biodistribution and Tumor Microenvironment Targeting

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, lipid nanoparticles are tracked in vivo using DNA barcodes to determine how varying drug loadings affect their delivery behaviors in mice. A cost‐effective strategy is developed for simultaneously monitoring the biodistribution of a library of lipid nanoparticles (LNPs).

Digitonin‐Loaded Nanoscale Metal–Organic Framework for Mitochondria‐Targeted Radiotherapy‐Radiodynamic Therapy and Disulfidptosis

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A mitochondria‐targeted cationic nanoscale metal organic framework shows strong radiotherapy‐radiodynamic therapy effects and selectively releases digitonin in acidic tumor microenvironments to induce disulfidptosis of cancer cells and downregulate immune checkpoints in cancer and T cells, thereby eliciting strong antitumor immunity to effectively ...

Genetic Modification of T Lymphocytes for Adoptive Immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Therapy, 2004
Adoptive transfer of T lymphocytes is a promising therapy for malignancies-particularly of the hemopoietic system-and for otherwise intractable viral diseases. Efforts to broaden the approach have been limited by the physiology of the T cells themselves and by a range of immune evasion mechanisms developed by tumor cells.

Hydrogel‐Mediated Preservation of Live Tumor Explants for Drug Development in Peritoneal Metastases

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a hyaluronan‐based hydrogel platform preserving the native tumor microenvironment (morphology, tissue composition, histology) of patient‐derived explants from peritoneal metastases, enabling clinically relevant drug screening. Hydrogel properties such as stiffness and degradation are crucial for longer‐term histoculture.
