A unified hyperbolic formulation for viscous fluids and elastoplastic solids

open access: yes, 2017
We discuss a unified flow theory which in a single system of hyperbolic partial differential equations (PDEs) can describe the two main branches of continuum mechanics, fluid dynamics, and solid dynamics.

Tumor mutational burden as a determinant of metastatic dissemination patterns

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study performed a comprehensive analysis of genomic data to elucidate whether metastasis in certain organs share genetic characteristics regardless of cancer type. No robust mutational patterns were identified across different metastatic locations and cancer types.

The Effect of Bubbles on Particle Migration in Non-Newtonian Fluids

open access: yesSeparations, 2021
The movement of the gas–liquid interface caused by the movement of the bubble position will have an impact on the starting conditions for particle migration.

Prediction of Soluble Solids Content in Tomatoes Due to Mechanical Impact Using NIR Spectroscopy

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Earth and Environmental Science
Abstract Soluble Solids Content (SSC) is an important indicator that reflects tomatoes’ taste quality and sugar content (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill). During post-harvest handling using sorting and grading machines, tomatoes are at risk of mechanical impact that can cause changes in SSC content.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Real-Time Brillouin Microscopy for Linewidth Imaging of Protein Condensates in Living Cells

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal
We propose a label-free, high-resolution approach to investigate pathological protein aggregation and aberrant phase behavior in living cells. Intracellular protein aggregates associated with neurodegenerative diseases are increasingly recognized for ...

Impact crater formation: a simple application of solid state physics

open access: yes, 2010
This contribution is a first step aiming to address a general question: what can be concluded on impact craters which exist on various planetary system objects, by combining astronomical data and known theoretical results from solid state physics ...

Columnar structure formation of a dilute suspension of settling spherical particles in a quiescent fluid [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The settling of heavy spherical particles in a column of quiescent fluid is investigated. The performed experiments cover a range of Galileo numbers ($110 \leq \text{Ga} \leq 310$) for a fixed density ratio of $\Gamma = \rho_p/\rho_f = 2.5$.

RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.

Impact of acidic pH on plant cell wall polysaccharide structure and dynamics: insights into the mechanism of acid growth in plants from solid-state NMR [PDF]

open access: yesCellulose, 2018
Acidification of plant primary cell walls causes cell wall expansion and plant growth. To understand how acidic pH affects the molecular structure and dynamics of wall polysaccharides, we have now characterized and compared Arabidopsis thaliana primary cell walls in neutral (pH 6.8) and acidic (pH 4.0) conditions using solid-state NMR spectroscopy ...
