Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Energy absorption of thin-walled cylinders filled with silicone rubber subjected to low-velocity impact

open access: yesMechanical Engineering Journal, 2017
In this paper, the effects of subjecting a thin-walled cylinder filled with silicone rubber to low-velocity impact on energy absorption were clarified on the basis of the results of drop weight testing and theoretical analysis.

Impact of dimensionality and network disruption on microrheology of cancer cells in 3D environments. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS Computational Biology, 2014
Dimensionality is a fundamental component that can have profound implications on the characteristics of physical systems. In cell biology, however, the majority of studies on cell physical properties, from rheology to force generation to migration, have ...

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

A Dynamic Model for the Normal Impact of Fly Ash Particle with a Planar Surface

open access: yesEnergies, 2013
The rebound behavior of fly ash particles normally impacting a planar surface is investigated by using a dynamic model. The three forms of soft sphere physical model are obtained using static/quasi-static contact mechanics and energy dissipation theory ...

Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

Vortex ring refraction at large Froude numbers

open access: yes, 2010
We have experimentally studied the impact of an initially planar axisymmetric vortex ring, incident at an oblique angle, upon a gravity-induced interface separating two fluids of differing densities.

Impacts of Household Solid Fuel Combustion on Blood Pressure: Mechanisms and Implications

open access: yesEnvironment & Health
Rural households in northwest China rely on solid fuels as their main heating energy source in winter, leading to negative health outcomes. This study assessed the concentrations of personal exposure to size-resolved particulate matter and gaseous pollutants (NO2, CO, and O3) and their effects on biomarkers of inflammation and oxidative stress in 129 ...
