Advanced fiber-composite hybrids--A new structural material [PDF]

open access: yes, 1974
Introduction of metal foil as part of matrix and fiber composite, or ""sandwich'', improves strength and stiffness for multidirectional loading, improves resistance to cyclic loading, and improves impact and erosion resistance of resultant fiber ...

Early‐life high‐fat diet exposure increases Achilles tendon stiffness and induces transcriptomic alterations

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Early‐life exposure to a high‐fat diet altered intact Achilles tendons in rat offspring, making them thinner, stiffer, and molecularly distinct even without injury. These findings suggest that developmental high‐fat diet exposure may impair tendon quality and increase susceptibility to mechanical overload or tendon injury later in life.

Residual stress effects on the impact resistance and strength of fiber composites [PDF]

open access: yes, 1973
Equations have been derived to predict degradation effects of microresidual stresses on impact resistance of unidirectional fiber composites.

Mutant NPM1 in Acute Myeloid Leukemia Initiation and Maintenance

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
NPM1 mutations drive acute myeloid leukemia by acting as neomorphic transcriptional regulators that cooperate with Menin–MLL and XPO1 to sustain HOX/MEIS1 expression and block differentiation. Targeting these mutant‐specific transcriptional dependencies provides a rational therapeutic strategy for NPM1‐mutated AML.

Viscose Rayon: An Absorbing Problem. An Investigation into the Impact Conservation Wet Cleaning Treatments have on Historic Woven Viscose Rayon Fabrics; with a Supplementary Analysis of Current Techniques for Identifying Man-Made Fibres [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Viscose rayon has been in production for over a century, however, minimal literature is available on its conservation. Pre-1940s viscose rayon has poorer wet strength than later versions.

Primordial magnetic field constraints from the end of reionization

open access: yes, 2011
Primordial magnetic fields generated in the early universe are subject of considerable investigation, and observational limits on their strength are required to constrain the theory.

Risk Prediction Models for Recurrence After Curative Treatment of Early‐Stage or Locally Advanced Lung Cancer: A Systematic Review

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
This systematic review synthesizes prognostic models for survival and recurrence in resected non‐small cell lung cancer. While many models demonstrate moderate to good discrimination, few are externally validated and reporting quality is variable, limiting clinical applicability and highlighting the need for robust, transparent model development ...

Phenomenological theory characterization of viscoelastic-plastic response of PA12 under indentation tests

open access: yesPolymer Testing
Nanoindentation is widely used to study the local time-dependent mechanical behavior of polymer materials. Usually, it can be considered that the indentation depth is the sum of elastic displacement, plastic displacement and time-dependent viscous ...

Fluid and Neuroimaging Biomarkers in Microgliopathy Colony‐Stimulating Factor‐1 Receptor‐Related Disorders

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective This study aims to identify both fluid and neuroimaging biomarkers for CSF1R‐RD that can inform the optimal timing of treatment administration to maximize therapeutic benefit, while also providing sensitive quantitative measurements to monitor disease progression.

A semi-analytical method based on the Green's function for the laser melting process of the metal materials

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering
Thermal responses of the metal materials subjected to intense laser irradiation are complicated due to the phase change in the melting process. In order to simplify this problem, previous studies usually ignored the liquid phase or took the usage of ...
