Abstract Oral and intravenous glucose tolerance tests were carried out on patients with Schistosoma mansoni infection with hepatic enlargement. Impaired glucose tolerance was discovered by the oral and intravenous tests. The impaired glucose tolerance was not related to the severity of liver damage as revealed by liver function tests.
