Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

A programmable frequency scan algorithm based on harmonic balance

open access: yesiEnergy
This paper presents a programmable frequency scan algorithm based on harmonic balance. The core idea involves treating systems under perturbation as nonlinear time-periodic (NTP) systems.

On the potential of using fractional-order systems to model the respiratory impedance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
This contribution provides an analysis of the human respiratory system in frequency domain by means of estimating the respiratory impedance. Further on, analysis of several models for human respiratory impedance is done, leading to the conclusion that a ...

Surface-impedance approach solves problems with the thermal Casimir force between real metals

open access: yes, 2003
The surface impedance approach to the description of the thermal Casimir effect in the case of real metals is elaborated starting from the free energy of oscillators.

New combined model of high impedance arcing fault in overhead transmission system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
High impedance fault is a popular complex phenomenon that exhibits high nonlinear behavior. For most distinctive characteristics of high impedance fault, are asymmetry and nonlinearity, so, in order to obtain an accurate model of high impedance fault, it

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Hybrid Impedance-Based Controller Design of Grid-Connected Converter for Whole-System Stabilization of Grid-Connected DC Microgrids

open access: yesIEEE Access
The grid-connected converter (GCC) in a grid-connected DC microgrid performs an important role in stabilising the interaction of the AC and DC sections.

Quantum noise in ideal operational amplifiers

open access: yes, 1998
We consider a model of quantum measurement built on an ideal operational amplifier operating in the limit of infinite gain, infinite input impedance and null output impedance and with a feddback loop.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.
