The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Tunable impedance matching networks based on phase-switched impedance modulation [PDF]

open access: yes2017 IEEE Energy Conversion Congress and Exposition (ECCE), 2017
The ability to provide accurate, rapid and dynamically-controlled impedance matching offers significant advantages to a wide range of present and emerging radio-frequency (RF) power applications. This work develops a new type of tunable impedance matching networks (TMN) that enables a combination of much faster and more accurate impedance matching than

Conserved structural motifs in PAS, LOV, and CRY proteins regulate circadian rhythms and are therapeutic targets

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cryptochrome and PAS/LOV proteins play intricate roles in circadian clocks where they act as both sensors and mediators of protein–protein interactions. Their ubiquitous presence in signaling networks has positioned them as targets for small‐molecule therapeutics. This review provides a structural introduction to these protein families.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

An Impedance Matching Method Based on Optimized BP Neural Network for Vehicular Power Line System

open access: yesIEEE Access
During the operation of the vehicular power line system, the loads are randomly connected and subsequently disconnected. This can result in an impedance mismatch of the vehicular power line system, which in turn has a significant impact on the normal ...

Research on the modeling of the impedance match bond at station track circuit in Chinese high-speed railway

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2015
Frequency-shift keying audio jointless track circuit is used in high-speed railway in China. However, within the station, track circuit with mechanical insulation is applied. In complex circuit network of electrified railway station, impedance match bond
