Flow Enabled Target Capture Halbach‐based magnetic enrichment increases circulating tumor cell capture from blood in metastatic cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pair‐wise comparison of the CellSearch and FETCH enrichment technologies for circulating tumor cells (CTCs) from metastatic breast, prostate, and small cell lung cancer patients shows an increased capture of CTCs using FETCH enrichment. The clinical implementation of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) as a predictive tool for therapy efficacy in the ...

MITF maintains genome stability in nonmelanocyte lineages

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
MITF is essential for melanocyte survival and acts as an oncogene in 10%–20% of melanomas. We show that MITF depletion causes genome instability in nonmelanocytic cells, leading to LATS2‐mediated P53 activation, cell cycle arrest, and apoptosis. This study highlights the role of MITF as a genome maintenance factor beyond the melanocyte lineage. Created

Sound Absorption of Wood-Wool Cement Absorbers

open access: yesبهداشت و ایمنی کار, 2023
Introduction: Wood-Wool Cement Panels (WWCPs) are environmentally friendly sound absorbers also used as heat, energy, and moisture insulators. WWCPs have suitable mechanical properties due to using Portland cement and wood strands as raw materials.

Modeling of 3D Impedance Tube with a Complex Termination Impedance using Finite Element Method

open access: yes, 2020
-Impedance tubes are used to measure the acoustic impedance of a sound absorbing material and are essentially onedimensional wave guides, with a source at one end and the acoustic load -typically the test sample of the absorptive material -placed at the ...

Dispersion based reduced-order model identification and boundary impedance control in a weakly coupled impedance tube

open access: yes, 2019
Impedance tubes are commonly employed for non-destructive measurement methods of the acoustic properties of materials. Most physical models neglect the elastic nature of the tube resulting in a single mode propagation up to the cut-off frequency and are ...

Liquid biopsy‐based diagnostic evaluation of hypermethylated CpG sites for ovarian cancer diagnosis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This schematic outlines the workflow from biomarker identification to duplex MethyLight assay validation for epithelial ovarian cancer diagnosis using cfDNA‐based liquid biopsy. Initial screening of hypermethylated CpG candidates (cg02957270, cg10061138 cg00480298, COL2A1) was performed in tissue using ARMS‐PCR, COBRA, qPCR and image analysis. Selected

PAK1 activation drives divergent resistance mechanisms to aromatase inhibition and tamoxifen in a luminal: A breast cancer model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Breast cancer remains a major cause of cancer death in women, frequently developing endocrine therapy resistance. This study demonstrates that upregulated p21‐activated kinase 1 (PAK1) activity drives resistance to tamoxifen and long‐term estrogen deprivation in ER+ breast cancer models.

Acoustic Absorption of Mortar Composites with Waste Material

open access: yesArchives of Acoustics, 2013
This paper presents an investigation about acoustic absorption of mortars with partial replacement of sand by waste (plywood formwork, rice husk, and thermoplastic shoe counters), examining different levels of replacement (0%, 5%, 10%, 25%, and 50%). The
