ZW4864‐mediated inhibition of the β‐catenin/BCL9/BCL9L complex reveals therapeutic potential in bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
BCL9 and BCL9L drive bladder cancer progression by enhancing β‐catenin signaling, promoting proliferation, migration, invasion, and organoid growth. Genetic depletion of BCL9(L) suppresses malignant phenotypes, while pharmacological disruption of the β‐catenin/BCL9(L) complex with ZW4864 inhibits canonical Wnt signaling and tumor‐associated cellular ...

On the Thermoelectric Effect of Interface Imperfections

open access: yes, 1999
Ordinary thermocouples use the well-known Seebeck effect to measure the temperature at the junction of two different conductors. The electromotive force generated by the heat depends on the difference between the respective thermoelectric powers of the contacting metals and the junction temperature.

Early‐life high‐fat diet exposure increases Achilles tendon stiffness and induces transcriptomic alterations

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Early‐life exposure to a high‐fat diet altered intact Achilles tendons in rat offspring, making them thinner, stiffer, and molecularly distinct even without injury. These findings suggest that developmental high‐fat diet exposure may impair tendon quality and increase susceptibility to mechanical overload or tendon injury later in life.

Thermo-mechanical Loading of Laminates with Imperfect Interfaces

open access: yesProcedia Engineering, 2014
AbstractComposite laminates are currently being pursued for structures which may be subjected to explosive threats in aggressive environments, characterized by extreme temperatures and seawater. A mechanical model is formulated for laminated plates subjected to thermo-mechanical loading and deforming in cylindrical bending; the layers are assumed to be

Molecular characterization of covRS mutations in M1UK Streptococcus pyogenes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Group A Streptococcus (GAS) acquires covRS mutations driving a hypervirulent bacterial state, frequently associated with invasive disease‐like necrotizing fasciitis. We demonstrate that the newly emerged M1UK GAS lineage can also acquire these mutations.

Protein docking prediction using predicted protein-protein interface

open access: yesBMC Bioinformatics, 2012
Background Many important cellular processes are carried out by protein complexes. To provide physical pictures of interacting proteins, many computational protein-protein prediction methods have been developed in the past. However, it is still difficult

Micro-mechanics models for an imperfect interface under anti-plane shear load : hypersingular integral formulations

open access: yes, 2012
Two micro-mechanics models are proposed for an imperfect (weak) interface between two anisotropic elastic half-spaces under anti-plane shear load. The imperfect interface in the first model contains an array of periodically distributed micro-cracks with ...
