Maintenance policies for protection systems with imperfect inspection and imperfect repair

Reliability Engineering & System Safety
In this study, we investigate the optimal maintenance policies for stochastically deteriorating protection systems with imperfect inspections and imperfect repairs. We model the system's degradation as a continuous-time Markov chain with three states: good, poor, and failed.

Optimum Policies When Preventive Maintenance is Imperfect

IEEE Transactions on Reliability, 1979
This paper considers three models with imperfect preventive maintenance (pm), viz the unit after pm is not always like new; i) the unit is repaired upon failure, ii) the unit undergoes minimal repair at failure, and iii) the failed unit is detected only by perfect pm.

Optimal maintenance decisions under imperfect inspection

Reliability Engineering & System Safety, 2005
The process industry is increasingly making use of Risk Based Inspection (RBI) techniques to develop cost and/or safety optimal inspection plans. This paper proposes an adaptive Bayesian decision model to determine these optimal inspection plans under uncertain deterioration.

GENERAL SEQUENTIAL IMPERFECT PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE MODELS

International Journal of Reliability, Quality and Safety Engineering, 2000
This paper presents new sequential imperfect preventive maintenance (PM) models incorporating adjustment/improvement factors in hazard rate and effective age. The models are hybrid in the sense that they are combinations of the age reduction PM model and the hazard rate adjustment PM model.

Optimum Policies for a System with Imperfect Maintenance

IEEE Transactions on Reliability, 1987
This paper considers a system with imperfect maintenance, i.e., after maintenance the system may be either (a) not changed, or (b) failed, with certain probabilities. Formulas for the MTTF and the availability are obtained and the policy to maximize availability is derived. A numerical example applies these results to a triple redundant system.

Scheduling Imperfect Preventive and Overhaul Maintenance

International Journal of Quality & Reliability Management, 1991
Although each maintenance task performed on an item of equipment may enhance its reliability, neither preventive nor overhaul maintenance can return the equipment to good‐as‐new condition. Applying the concept of maintenance improvement factors to both types of maintenance, mathematical models are developed that are used to generate preventive and ...

Maintenance policy costs considering imperfect repairs

2023
Objective: This paper extends the analysis of imperfect preventive maintenance interspaced with minimal repairs. The aim is to find the intervals of future scheduled maintenance actions considering different recovery factors and costs. Methods: The optimal preventive maintenance scheduling are obtained by minimizing the overall maintenance costs ...

Opportunistic maintenance for wind turbines considering imperfect, reliability-based maintenance

Renewable Energy, 2017
Abstract Corrective maintenance and time-based maintenance have been widely employed in wind farms. However, the actual maintenance strategy is much more complex and diverse, and also maintenance actions do not always return the system to “as good as new” condition. Moreover, dependencies exist in multi-component systems, and it is more economical to

Age-reduction models for imperfect maintenance

IMA Journal of Management Mathematics, 1998
Summary: Maintenance of a deteriorating system is often imperfect, with the state of the system after maintenance being at a level somewhere between new and its prior condition. In this paper, the concept of reduction in virtual or effective age is used to model the effect of both imperfect corrective maintenance and imperfect preventive maintenance ...
