System-Level Impingement Cooling with Cryogens

Journal of Thermophysics and Heat Transfer, 2020
System-level impingement cooling with cryogens has potential thermal applications in size-constrained, weight-constrained, and power-constrained or low-atmosphere environments by utilizing a phase change for enhanced heat transfer at cryogenic temperatures. In this work, an experiment capable of measuring the heat and mass flow of liquid nitrogen jets

Microscale Liquid Impingement Cooling

Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS), 2001
Abstract Impingement cooling is an attractive method for individual IC cooling because of the uniformity and high values of the expected heat transfer coefficient. This paper presents spatially-averaged temperature measurements for DI water impingement from single micro jets with diameters smaller than 50 μm.

MEMS Impinging-Jet Cooling

Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS), 2000
Abstract This paper presents an experimental investigation on MEMS impinging jets as applied to micro heat exchangers. We have fabricated MEMS single and array jet nozzles using DRIE technology, as well as a MEMS quartz chip providing a simulated hot surface for jet impingement.
