The present research tested whether cultural tightness–looseness accounts for implicit associations between American and ethnic identities. Two datasets from Project Implicit were used to assess the extent to which the concepts American vs.

Implicit surface modelling as an eigenvalue problem [PDF]
We discuss the problem of fitting an implicit shape model to a set of points sampled from a co-dimension one manifold of arbitrary topology. The method solves a non-convex optimisation problem in the embedding function that defines the implicit by way of its zero level set. By assuming that the solution is a mixture of radial basis functions of varying

Pathways and pitfalls: a qualitative study of student experiences in biomedical science education
Biomedical science students from underrepresented backgrounds face barriers including financial strain, disrupted laboratory access and cultural exclusion. Peer networks provide vital support when institutional systems are difficult to navigate. To create inclusive learning environments and achieve academic success, educators should blend active, hands‐

Model checking implicit-invocation systems [PDF]
While implicit invocation (publish-subscribe) systems have good engineering properties, they are difficult to reason about and to test. Model checking such systems is an attractive alternative. However, it is not clear what kinds of state models are best suited for this.

Optimizing photoexcitation conditions for time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering experiments
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering (TR‐XSS) is a powerful technique to visualize how proteins change their structure in real time after light activation. Selecting the right laser photoexcitation conditions—fluence, excitation geometry, and sample refresh rate—is critical to maximize the experimental signal while avoiding unwanted side effects ...

Assessing geologic model uncertainty - a case study comparing methods
Evaluating mineral resources requires the prior delimitation of geologically homogeneous stationary domains. The knowledge about the ore genesis and geological processes involved are translated into three dimensional models, essential for planning the ...

An Alternating Direction Implicit Method for Modeling of Fluid Flow [PDF]
This research includes of the numerical modeling of fluids in two-dimensional cavity. The cavity flow is an important theoretical problem. In this research, modeling was carried out based on an alternating direction implicit via Vorticity-Stream function

A Propositional Model of Implicit Evaluation [PDF]
Abstract Implicit evaluation can be defined as the automatic effect of stimuli on evaluative responses. A major advantage of this definition is that it is neutral with regard to the mental processes and representations that mediate implicit evaluation.

Heterotropic regulation and negative homotropic cooperativity
We identified a structural module common to some proteins that couple negative cooperativity with heterotropic regulation, two features that rarely coexist. These proteins are ring‐like and present an ordered asymmetry whereby noncontacting subunits are symmetric, and their tertiary structure differs from that of contacting subunits.
