Cytosolic Hsp70 and co-chaperones constitute a novel system for tRNA import into the nucleus

open access: yeseLife, 2015
tRNAs are unique among various RNAs in that they shuttle between the nucleus and the cytoplasm, and their localization is regulated by nutrient conditions.

Phosphorylation regulates the assembly of chloroplast import machinery [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Chloroplast function depends on the translocation of cytosolically synthesized precursor proteins into the organelle. The recognition and transfer of most precursor proteins across the outer membrane depend on a membrane inserted complex.

Salmonella enterica serovar typhi limits the potency of typhoid toxin and ADP‐ribosylating toxin AB to establish a persistent infection

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The two catalytic subunits of typhoid toxin dissociate from the holotoxin in the ER of an intoxicated cell, but only CdtB exits the ER to generate immunosuppressive effects. PltA is retained in the ER and sequestered from its cytosolic target, thus allowing the anti‐inflammatory effects of CdtB to promote intestinal colonization.

An aggregate import demand function for Australia: a cointegration approach [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper investigates the relationship among quantity of imports, relative import prices and real GDP in the aggregate import demand function for Australia during the period 1959Q3Ã’2006Q3.

BCG vaccination potentiates oxidative phosphorylation in neonatal myeloid‐derived suppressor cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
BCG vaccination enhances oxidative phosphorylation in neonatal MDSCs, impairing their immunosuppressive function. It upregulates electron transport chain genes and mitochondrial activity, increasing ATP and oxygen consumption. Pharmacological OXPHOS inhibition partially restores suppressive capacity, confirming causality.

Clueless is a conserved ribonucleoprotein that binds the ribosome at the mitochondrial outer membrane

open access: yesBiology Open, 2016
Mitochondrial function is tied to the nucleus, in that hundreds of proteins encoded by nuclear genes must be imported into mitochondria. While post-translational import is fairly well understood, emerging evidence supports that mitochondrial site ...

An aggregate import demand function for Turkey: a cointegration analysis [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper estimates an aggregate import demand function for Turkey during the period 1994:1-2003:12. In our empirical analysis of the aggregate import demand function for Turkey, cointegration and error correction modeling approaches have been used ...

Unraveling 4‐Phenylbutyrate's Therapeutic Role in SLC6A1 Disorders: Pharmacochaperoning Over HDAC Inhibition

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Variants in SLC6A1, encoding the GABA transporter 1 (GAT‐1), cause epilepsy, autism spectrum disorder, and developmental delay via loss of GABA uptake, impaired trafficking, and ER retention. We previously found that 4‐Phenylbutyrate (PBA), an FDA‐approved drug, restores GABA uptake and reduces seizures in SLC6A1‐related disorders ...

Cognitive and Neuroimaging Divergence Between Juvenile and Adult FUS Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by progressive motor neuron degeneration. Fused in sarcoma (FUS)‐associated juvenile ALS (jALS) represents a distinct and aggressive subgroup with rapid deterioration and poor prognosis.
