Comparison of Motion Artefact Reduction Methods and the Implementation of Adaptive Motion Artefact Reduction in Wearable Electrocardiogram Monitoring

open access: yesSensors, 2020
A motion artefact is a kind of noise that exists widely in wearable electrocardiogram (ECG) monitoring. Reducing motion artefact is challenging in ECG signal preprocessing because the spectrum of motion artefact usually overlaps with the very important ...

Trait Impulsivity Impedes Maturing Out of Problem Drinking Among Socially Anxious Undergraduates

open access: yesAlcohol and Alcoholism, 2020
Abstract Aims Alcohol use follows a developmental trajectory—steadily increasing and peaking in the early stages of emerging adulthood (e.g. first year of university) and declining thereafter. While most individuals ‘mature out’ of problem drinking as they move through emerging adulthood, some ...

Developing evidence‐based, cost‐effective P4 cancer medicine for driving innovation in prevention, therapeutics, patient care and reducing healthcare inequalities

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The cancer problem is increasing globally with projections up to the year 2050 showing unfavourable outcomes in terms of incidence and cancer‐related deaths. The main challenges are prevention, improved therapeutics resulting in increased cure rates and enhanced health‐related quality of life.

Effect of Enhancement Material on the Performance of Ground Electrodes Under Impulse Conditions

open access: yesIEEE Access
Among the factors that affect the soil resistivity is the chemical content in soil, where the ionic conduction is expectedly increased and the soil resistivity is reduced.

Sparse signal recovery based on adaptive algorithms for debris detector

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2021
Inductive debris sensors are generally used in online debris detection and perform well in monitoring the wear condition of rotating facilities. The detection accuracy is restricted by the superposition and noise of the impedance signal.

Impulse TDR and its application to measurement of antennas [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The traditional stimulus signal used in a time-domain reflectometer (TDR) is a voltage step. We propose an alternative technique, whereby an impulse generator is employed in place of the step generator in a TDR.

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Binaural Auralization of Room Acoustics with a Highly Scalable Wave-Based Acoustics Simulation

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2023
This paper presents a proposal of an efficient binaural room-acoustics auralization method, an essential goal of room-acoustics modeling. The method uses a massively parallel wave-based room-acoustics solver based on a dispersion-optimized explicit time ...
