Digitizing the Filtration Interface: A Smart, Modular Janus Wood Platform for Self‐Reporting Oil/Water Remediation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work developed a smart Janus wood membrane integrating asymmetric wettability with built‐in electrical sensing for oil‐water separation. The membrane achieved > 99.5% separation efficiency and high flux by leveraging wood's natural anisotropic pore structure.

Impulse ageing of polymeric materials

open access: yes, 2011
Impulse over-voltage is a common phenomenon in electric power systems. A switching impulse is created by a switching surge or local fault while a lightning impulse is due to direct lightning strike to high voltage plant such as an overhead line.

Actuator Selection Based on a Reduced-Order Model Using Balanced Proper Orthogonal Decomposition with Input-Output Projection

open access: yesActuators
Actuator placement optimization based on a reduced-order model is essential for controlling a high-dimensional system in real time. This paper discusses actuator placement in an unstable high-dimensional system based on a reduced-order model obtained by ...

Pull‐and‐Push Nanotherapeutic Hydrogels: Scavenging Inflammatory Triggers While Driving Tissue Regeneration in Burn Wounds

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A nanounit‐assembled hydrogel employing a “pull‐and‐push” strategy simultaneously scavenges pro‐inflammatory cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and delivers regenerative therapeutics in response to burn‐induced hyperthermia. By repolarizing macrophages and promoting angiogenesis, this multifunctional platform accelerates burn wound healing, offering a blueprint for

The Dynamic Response of the Budget Balance to Tax, Spending and Output Shocks: Does Model Specification Matter? [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper estimates how the US budget responds to shocks in taxes, spending and output. In particular, we consider the dynamic adjustment of the two budget components (taxes and spending) to such shocks.

Muscle bursting and corticomotor excitability mark impaired impulse control in Parkinson’s disease

open access: yesnpj Parkinson's Disease
Dopamine agonists in Parkinson’s disease increase the risk of impulse control disorders, yet the underlying neural mechanisms remain unclear. This study aimed to identify objective neurophysiological markers of impaired impulse control in Parkinson’s ...

MXene Wrapped Magnetic Mesocrystals for Durable Redox Catalytic Cancer Therapy and Responsive MRI

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Conformal wrapping of ultrathin Ti3C2Tx MXene nanosheets on Fe3O4 mesocrystals creates topology‐stabilized Schottky junctions that direct photoinduced electron transfer under NIR irradiation. The unique architecture sustains Fenton catalysis, promotes continuous hydroxyl radical production, and provides photo‐responsive MRI contrast.
