Results from open-label and placebo-controlled trials suggest that the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors reduce impulsive aggressive behavior. The objective of this open-label study was to investigate whether citalopram treatment has anti-aggressive effect on impulsive aggressive subjects meeting DSM-IV criteria for a cluster B personality ...

Normative Influences on Impulsive Buying Behavior
Journal of Consumer Research, 1995Although consumer researchers have investigated impulse buying for nearly 50 years, almost no research has empirically examined its normative aspects. This article presents conceptual and empirical evidence that consumers' normative evaluations (i.e., judgments about the appropriateness of engaging in impulse buying behavior) moderate the relationship ...

Psychodynamics of Impulsive Behavior
1979In discussing treatment of patients with impulsive disorders, we can take one of two positions: (1) that we know too little and are thus helpless to treat many of them successfully (based on recidivist and outcome studies); or (2) that we know more than we realize and our failures lie in the complexities of applying what we know.

Impulsivity and the Coronary-Prone Behavior Pattern
Psychological Reports, 1980It has recently been suggested that individuals showing the Type A behavior pattern may be less impulsive than those not showing the pattern. In this way the failure of the Type A individual to make many errors in reaction time tasks may be accounted for.

Lithium treatment of impulsive behavior in children
Journal of Clinical Psychopharmacology, 1983Children who display sporadic unprovoked physical aggression and are refractory to usual treatment pose a difficult management problem. A group of 14 such children were matched with a control group; behaviors of both groups were observed and recorded for 3 months.
