Cooperation and Stability through Periodic Impulse [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Basic games, where each individual chooses between two strategies, illustrate several issues that immediately emerge from the standard approach that applies strategic reasoning, based on rational decisions, to predict population behavior where no ...

Behavioral Impulsivity in Obsessive–Compulsive Disorder

open access: yesJournal of Behavioral Addictions, 2016
Background Grassi et al. (2015) collected data to examine impulsivity in individuals with obsessive–compulsive disorder (OCD) compared to nonpsychiatric controls. Their aim was to examine whether OCD may be fully captured by the behavioral addiction model, using the prototypical mechanism underlying drug addiction as their ...

Self‐Powered Bearing Sensing and Real‐Time Fault Diagnosis Enabled by Non‐Invasive Triboelectric Sensors and Edge AI Acceleration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study achieves the synergistic integration of self‐powered sensing and edge AI acceleration to establish a real‐time fault diagnosis system. The proposed TENG‐based self‐powered bearing sensor (NSE‐TBS) and FPGA‐accelerated edge AI framework fundamentally break through the inherent limitations of conventional monitoring systems, including complex ...

Improved Direct Ink Writing of Liquid Metal Foams via Liquid Additives

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
The ability to pattern liquid metal is useful for making soft electrical and thermal devices. Dispensing liquid metal from a nozzle naturally results in the formation of spheroidal droplets, making direct‐write printing challenging. Liquid metal foams containing pockets of air can extrude as filaments, albeit inconsistently.

Ultrafast optical generation of coherent phonons in CdTe1-xSex quantum dots

open access: yes, 2003
We report on the impulsive generation of coherent optical phonons in CdTe0.68Se0.32 nanocrystallites embedded in a glass matrix. Pump probe experiments using femtosecond laser pulses were performed by tuning the laser central energy to resonate with the ...

Children with low working memory and children with ADHD: same or different? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The purpose of this study was to compare working memory (WM), executive function, academic ability and problem classroom behaviors in children aged 8 to 11 years who were either identified via routine screening as having low WM, or had been diagnosed ...

Asymptotic Behavior of Impulsive Differential Equations

open access: yesRocky Mountain Journal of Mathematics, 1996
This is one of the first works devoted to the study of asymptotic behaviour of solutions of the following impulsive system: \(x' = f(t,x)\), \(t \neq t_i\), \(\Delta x(t_i) = \varphi_i (x(t_i))\), \(t_i \to + \infty\), \((t,x) \in \mathbb{R}_+ \times \mathbb{R}^n\).

Assessing the Impact of Promotions on Consumer Purchasing Behavior During Crises

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Understanding how households modify their food expenditure decisions during times of crisis is essential because consumer purchasing behavior frequently changes during these times. This study looks at these behavioral shifts during the COVID‐19 pandemic, concentrating on how price sensitivity and response to sales promotions changed over the ...

Signatures of impulsive localized heating in the temperature distribution of multi-stranded coronal loops [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We study the signatures of different coronal heating regimes on the differential emission measure (DEM) of multi-stranded coronal loops by means of hydrodynamic simulations.
