Decentralized Federated Learning for Wind Turbine Bearing Prognostics Under Data Scarcity and Statistical Heterogeneity

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
This paper proposes a decentralized peer‐to‐peer federated learning framework for wind turbine bearing remaining useful life prediction, introducing a virtual client paradigm in which statistical health indicators serve as independent feature‐level clients—enabling privacy‐preserving collaborative prognostics from a single physical asset under ...

Recent advances in multifunctional soft robots: A materials–structures–systems co‐design perspective for synergistic integration

open access: yesFlexMat, EarlyView.
Abstract Soft robots, engineered from highly compliant materials, offer superior adaptability and safety in unstructured environments compared to their rigid counterparts. Recent advancements, fueled by bio‐inspiration and material programmability, have led to the rapid co‐evolution of their core modules: actuation, sensing, protection, energy, and ...

Analytical bit error rate performance evaluation of an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing power line communication system impaired by impulsive and Gaussian channel noise

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2015
An analytical approach is presented to evaluate the bit error rate (BER) performance of a power line (PL) communication system considering the combined influence of impulsive noise and background PL Gaussian noise.

Impulsive noise modeling and robust receiver design

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Wireless Communications and Networking, 2020
Interference is an important limitation in many communication systems. It has been shown in many situations that the popular Gaussian approximation is not adequate and interference exhibits an impulsive behavior.

Impulsive noise detection in PLC with smoothed L0-norm

open access: yes, 2015
© 2015 IEEE. Power-line communications (PLC) commonly employs orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) as the modulation technique, and impulsive noise has a significant negative impact on its performance.

Carbonyl lock enables multi‐resonant organoboron framework with substantially enhanced spin‐flip and reduced emission bandwidth

open access: yesFlexMat, EarlyView.
Integrating carbonyl lock onto multi‐resonant organoboron emitters is found to go beyond conventional bridge unit. It can not only suppress the molecular relaxation as conventional bridge, but also substantially affect electronic engineering via carbonyl integration, activating multiple up‐conversion channels, thus leading to an accelerated spin‐flip ...

Nonlinear Relations Between Resting Heart Rate Measures and Health Risk Behavior in Emerging Adulthood

open access: yesJournal of Adolescence, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Resting heart rate (HR) measures reflect autonomic processes that could predict health risk behavior (HRB) in emerging adulthood when risky behavior is prominent. However, prior studies and extant theories are inconsistent, such that the relationships between HR measures and HRB could be positive or negative in direction.

Impulsive Noise Cancellation of ECG signal based on SSRLS

open access: yes, 2015
In this paper, an enhanced adaptive impulsive noise cancellation technique based on State Space Recursive Least Square (SSRLS) algorithm is proposed. The technique is applied to the Electrocardiogram (ECG) signal, where impulsive noise affects the ECG ...

Discount now or later? The effect of payment framing on consumer preferences for discount timing in periodic payments

open access: yesJournal of Consumer Psychology, EarlyView.
Abstract Consistent with the standard model of time discounting, subscription firms typically offer introductory discounts early in the subscription. However, we demonstrate that consumers are more likely to prefer a delayed discount when the discount is expressed in the same unit as the recurring price (e.g., “$10, $10, $5”).
