The inspection points of a production line
Statistics, 1992In controlling a production line the question arises at which points inspections are to be undertaken. A model is presented how to solve this allocation problem from an economic point of view. The objective function which can be interpreted as the longterm average profit per item produced is maximized by means of dynamic programming. Examples are given,

In-Line Inspection the Changes Continue
CORROSION 1998, 1998Abstract The tools used for the In-Line Inspection of pipelines have changed dramatically in the last few years. These changes have not resulted from fundamental changes in the inspection technologies but rather from the evolution in data processing and storage systems.

Power line robotic device for overhead line inspection and maintenance
Industrial Robot: An International Journal, 2017Purpose This paper aims to focus on the design and testing of a robotic device for power line inspection and cleaning. The focus for this design is on simplicity and compactness with a goal to create a device for linemen and other power line workers to keep in their toolbox. Design/methodology/approach The prototype uses V-grooved wheels to grip the

Dot’s Perspective on In-Line Inspection
CORROSION 1996, 1996Abstract The Department of Transportation and its Office of Pipeline Safety have been involved with in-line inspection (ILI) pigs since the construction of the Alaska crude oil pipeline in the early 1970s. Two Congressionally mandated reports concerning ILI pigs and a regulation requiring new and replaced pipe and components to be ...

In-Line Inspection Performance Verification
CORROSION 2007, 2007Abstract The performance of in-line inspection tools employed for integrity assessments has significant impact on the reliability of assessment results, the extent of required remediation, and justification of re-inspection intervals. Analytical methods for verification of assumed performance metrics, in terms of sizing are presented in ...

Inspection of Rubber Lined Equipment
CORROSION 1998, 1998Abstract This paper describes the criteria and methods to be used for inspecting and assessing the condition of new and used rubber lined carbon steel process equipment. It provides methodology for evaluating and determining appropriate repairs to rubber lined vessels. It does not address safety requirements such as confined space entry,

Scheduling of Pole Line Inspections
Bell System Technical Journal, 1962This paper is concerned with the scheduling of pole line inspections. The schedules are based on the physical lifetime distribution of pressure-treated southern pine poles, which constitute some eighty per cent of the current telephone pole plant.
