Culture of horse oocytes in vitro [PDF]

open access: yesReproduction, 1981
Oocytes were removed from follicles 5-30 mm in diameter. The germinal vesicle was present in 69.6% (23/33) of the oocytes at the start of culture, but after 20-24 and 40 h 70.5% (12/17) and 68.2% (43/63) of the oocytes were in metaphase I and metaphase II with first polar body extruded, respectively.

Anabolic and catabolic responses of human articular chondrocytes to varying oxygen percentages [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Oxygen is a critical parameter proposed to modulate the functions of chondrocytes ex-vivo as well as in damaged joints. This article investigates the effect of low (more physiological) oxygen percentage on the biosynthetic and catabolic activity of human

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative
