Experimental Measurement of Human Oocyte Mechanical Properties on a Micro and Nanoforce Sensing Platform Based on Magnetic Springs. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
International audienceThis article presents a new micro and nanoforce sensor used to perform a mechanical characterisation of human oocytes. This device is based on the use of low-sti_ness magnetic springs. The oocytes to be characterised are placed on a

Pregnancy Outcomes and Postnatal Health From Transferred Mosaic Embryos Following Preimplantation Genetic Testing for Aneuploidy

open access: yesiNew Medicine, EarlyView.
This illustration synthesizes the methods and conclusion of this study, demonstrating that the transfer of mosaic embryos following reimplantation genetic testing for aneuploidy does not increase the risk to postnatal health. ABSTRACT Next‐generation sequencing (NGS) has increased the detection of mosaic embryos during preimplantation genetic testing ...

ParaHox Genes Revisited: From Gut Patterning to Integrated Axial and Neural Organization in Rotifera

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Zoology Part B: Molecular and Developmental Evolution, EarlyView.
In rotifers, ParaHox genes show a dispersed genomic organization, with Xlox absent across gnathiferans. Exclusive neuronal expression of Gsx and Cdx reveals that ancestral ParaHox genes coordinated neural and epithelial development beyond gut patterning, suggesting an integrated role in early bilaterian body plan organization.

Self-illuminating quantum dots for non-invasive bioluminescence imaging of mammalian gametes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
BACKGROUND: The fertility performance of animals is still a mystery and the full comprehension of mammalian gametes maturation and early embryonic development remains to be elucidated. The recent development in nanotechnology offers a new opportunity for

Jervell and Lange‐Nielsen Syndrome Related Clinical Genetics and Experimental Models

open access: yesPediatric Discovery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Jervell and Lange‐Nielsen syndrome (JLNS) is defined by electrocardiographic QT prolongation and sensorineural hearing loss, caused by homozygous or compound heterozygous variants in KCNQ1 and/or KCNE1. KCNQ1 encodes the alpha subunit Kv7.1 of the ion channels accountable for slow delayed rectifier potassium currents (IKs), whereas KCNE1 ...

Space biomedicine‐oriented bioink and biomimetic blood‒brain barrier

open access: yesVIEW, EarlyView.
Bioinks and bioprinting play a pivotal role in the successful delivery of cell models and the fabrication of tissue models for space biomedicine research. This study investigated the effects of hypergravity and vibration on two‐dimensional adherent cells and three‐dimensional embedded cells and provided methods for storing hybrid bioink and high ...

Impact of xenotransplantation of sheep ovarian cortex and follicular fluid- enriched SMART medium on the morphology of recovered of sheep oocyte [PDF]

open access: yesMirror of Research in Veterinary Sciences and Animals, 2017
Ovarian follicles and cortical tissue can survive viable after ovariectomy and use successfully for xenotransplantation or in vitro maturation. This study designed to assess in vitro maturation (IVM) of sheep oocytes recovered from immature follicles ...
