Potential therapeutic targeting of BKCa channels in glioblastoma treatment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review summarizes current insights into the role of BKCa and mitoBKCa channels in glioblastoma biology, their potential classification as oncochannels, and the emerging pharmacological strategies targeting these channels, emphasizing the translational challenges in developing BKCa‐directed therapies for glioblastoma treatment.

Induction of apoptosis and growth inhibition by silodosin and abiraterone acetate in PC-3 human prostate cancer cells [PDF]

open access: yesInvestigative and Clinical Urology
Purpose: Prostate cancer that progresses despite androgen deprivation therapy, known as metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) is notoriously difficult to treat.

Metabolism of soluble proteins by rumen microorganisms and the influence of condensed tannins on nitrogen solubility and degradation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
The amino acid requirements of ruminants are met by two sources; microbes leaving the rumen and dietary protein escaping fermentation in the rumen. Much ruminant research has therefore focused on improving amino acid supply to the duodenum by increasing ...

In vitro immunological techniques in fascioliasis

open access: yes, 1975
Experiments were conducted to examine ways of monitoring immunological responses in sheep to infection with Fasciola hepatica. The enzyme- linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), the radioimmunoassay, and the agar gel precipitin technique were evaluated using the same somatic fluke antigen, for sensitivity and accuracy in the serodiagnosis of fascioliasis ...

LINC01116, a hypoxia‐lncRNA marker of pathological lymphangiogenesis and poor prognosis in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The LINC01116 long noncoding RNA is induced by hypoxia and associated with poor prognosis and high recurrence rates in two cohorts of lung adenocarcinoma patients. Here, we demonstrate that besides its expression in cancer cells, LINC01116 is markedly expressed in lymphatic endothelial cells of the tumor stroma in which it participates in hypoxia ...

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

A feasible in vitro method to evaluate bacterial infiltration in three implant-abutment connection systems

open access: yesJournal of Oral Research
Introduction: Microorganism infiltration through the im-plant-abutment interface causes oral health problems such as periimplantitis, leading to implant loss. Materials and Methods: A feasible new method to quantify the Streptococcus mutans (S.
