Dose-response relationships in Y90 resin microsphere radioembolization for patients with hepatocellular carcinoma: insights from a Brazilian cohort [PDF]

open access: yesEinstein (São Paulo)
Objective To evaluate the relationship between the absorbed dose and radiological response in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma undergoing resin microsphere radioembolization to enhance treatment precision and potentially adjust protocols for ...

Effect of oxygen and nanoparticles on human skin and colon cells exposed to synchrotron‐based X‐ray FLASH beams

open access: yesJournal of Synchrotron Radiation, EarlyView.
Most cancer patients will be treated by radiotherapy, and recent findings suggest that delivering radiation at `FLASH' ultra‐high dose rates reduces damage to healthy tissues while still damaging the tumour. This project experimentally validates the reduced healthy tissue damage of FLASH radiotherapy on cells using synchrotron‐based beams, which will ...

In vivo dosimetry during tangential breast treatment [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
The 3-dimensional (3-D) dose distribution as calculated in clinical practice for tangential breast treatment was verified by means of in vivo dosimetry.

A Review of the Australian MRI Linac Program: From Pie in the Sky to Research Milestone

open access: yesJournal of Medical Imaging and Radiation Oncology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The Australian Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Linear Accelerator program (MRI linac) was a major research project that aimed to build and test a unique MRI linac prototype for cancer treatment. It aimed to improve radiotherapy anatomical targeting and explore physiological targeting. The purpose of this report is to summarise the development

Application of the Linear-Quadratic model to targeted radionuclide therapy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
PhDThe principal aim of this work was to test the hypothesis that the Linear-Quadratic (LQ) model of cell survival, developed for external beam radiotherapy (EBRT), could be extended to targeted radionuclide therapy (TRT) in order to predict dose ...

Transporter‐Associated Therapeutic Efficacy of an SMVT‐Targeted Boron Carrier in Boron Neutron Capture Therapy

open access: yesCancer Science, EarlyView.
The transporter‐associated BNCT strategy using BBCIP with or without BPA according to tumor transporter characteristics. BPA showed greater efficacy in LAT1‐dominant F98 glioma, whereas BBCIP was more effective in SMVT‐high CRL1666 tumors, suggesting the potential utility of transporter‐based boron carrier selection in BNCT.

Methodological Design for Three‐Dimensional Assessment of Maxillary and Mandibular Impacted Canines by Cone‐Beam Computed Tomography: A Scoping Review

open access: yesOrthodontics &Craniofacial Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT To map and critically synthesize the methodological approaches used for the CBCT‐based evaluation of maxillary and mandibular impacted canines (ICs), with emphasis on imaging protocols, anatomical variables, and diagnostic frameworks. This scoping review followed PRISMA‐ScR guidelines.

Transcriptional benchmark dose modeling of ultraviolet radiation‐induced genomic activation in mouse skin

open access: yesPhotochemistry and Photobiology, EarlyView.
Exposure to ultraviolet radiation (UV‐R) from tanning equipment increases skin cancer risk through molecular changes, but genomic thresholds remain unclear. Using mice, we examined dose‐ and time‐dependent gene expression after erythemally‐weighted UV‐R doses (0–40 mJ/cm2).

Hydroxyaldehyde and formyl photoproducts of protoporphyrin IX formed under photodynamic diagnosis and therapy irradiation conditions

open access: yesPhotochemistry and Photobiology, EarlyView.
Photoproducts of the photosensitizer protoporphyrin IX (PpIX) may have diagnostic and therapeutic relevance in photodynamic diagnosis (PDD) and photodynamic therapy (PDT). These photoproducts possess fluorescence and photosensitizing properties and could serve as a complementary dosimetry index alongside photosensitizer photobleaching. The formation of

A phantom study for in-vivo dosimetry of high dose rate brachytherapy applicators [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Purpose: The aim of the current investigation was to calibrate the diode in-vivo dosimetry (IVD) system for high-dose-rate (HDR) brachytherapy and to design a phantom study for in-vivo dosimetry of HDR brachytherapy applicators. Methods: Gamma Med Plus ...
