T-wave oversensing and inappropriate shocks: a case report [PDF]
A 27-year-old male with congenital long QT syndrome, SCN5A mutation experienced recurrent inappropriate exercise-related implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) shocks. This device showed T-wave oversensing with double, which lead to these device discharges. Dynamic T-wave oversensing was reproducibly provoked at exercise treadmill testing and was

Inappropriate Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillator Shocks [PDF]
ObjectivesThe purpose of this study was to assess the incidence, predictors, and outcome of inappropriate shocks in implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) patients.BackgroundDespite the benefits of ICD therapy, inappropriate defibrillator shocks ...

When an Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator can Kill your Patient! [PDF]
Inappropriate therapy due to noise oversensing caused a true ventricular fibrillation (VF) and a life-threatening event in a patient. A 19-year-old patient with surgically corrected congenital heart disease and systolic dysfunction had an implantable ...

An uncommon cause of inappropriate ICD shock [PDF]
AbstractIn cases of electromagnetic interference (EMI), if the source of the inappropriate EMI cannot be identified, then the sensitivity of the device could be decreased, or the cycle length of the VF detection trigger zone changed.

An unusual cause for inappropriate defibrillator shock.
A 50-year-old lady with dilated cardiomyopathy and scar VT underwent single chamber implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD, Medtronic Ltd, Evera XT VR, DVBB2D1) implantation 2 months back. A Sprint Quattro secure 6947 DF1 dual coil lead was placed at RV apex. Now, she presents with an episode of ICD shock while having breakfast.

Background: Patients with Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) are at increased risk for sudden cardiac death, often undergo implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) implantation at younger ages, and are at greater risk of experiencing inappropriate shocks.

Inappropriate shocks or inappropriate programming? A review of Guidant'sTM reconfirmation algorithm [PDF]
Ventricular tachycardia episodes terminating during or immediately after device charging are not expected to be treated by current implantable cardioverter defibrillators as shocks are non-committed. For proper troubleshooting, the reconfirmation algorithm will be reviewed.
