Single‐cell insights into the role of T cells in B‐cell malignancies

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Single‐cell technologies have transformed our understanding of T cell–tumor cell interactions in B‐cell malignancies, revealing new T‐cell subsets, functional states, and immune evasion mechanisms. This Review synthesizes these findings, highlighting the roles of T cells in pathogenesis, progression, and therapy response, and underscoring their ...

Biological and technical complexities in analyzing extracellular vesicle immune interactions in B‐cell malignancies

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extracellular vesicles (EVs) mediate intercellular communication in tumor immune microenvironments. However, their role in B‐cell malignancies remains poorly defined, owing to biological complexity and technical challenges in EV isolation and analysis.

10 years of advancing diversity within the Mycological Society of America [PDF]

open access: yesIMA Fungus
Like most Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields, mycology has been dominated by white male scientists, while representation of marginalised groups (e.g., women, persons from different racial and ethnic groups, persons with ...

Variance Inflation Factor: As a Condition for the Inclusion of Suppressor Variable(s) in Regression Analysis

open access: yes, 2015
Suppression effect in multiple regression analysis may be more common in research than what is currently recognized. We have reviewed several literatures of interest which treats the concept and types of suppressor variables.

Origin of life: β‐sheet amyloid conformers as the primordial functional polymers on the early Earth and their role in the emergence of complex dynamic networks

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The amyloid world hypothesis of the origin‐of‐life posits that the first functional polymers on the early Earth were structurally stable cross‐β‐sheet‐based peptide amyloids capable of Darwinian‐like evolution. Peptide amyloids display self‐replication and information transfer, as well as catalytic, adaptive, and evolutive properties.

The epithelial barrier theory proposes a comprehensive explanation for the origins of allergic and other chronic noncommunicable diseases

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Exposure to common noxious agents (1), including allergens, pollutants, and micro‐nanoplastics, can cause epithelial barrier damage (2) in our body's protective linings. This may trigger an immune response to our microbiome (3). The epithelial barrier theory explains how this process can lead to chronic noncommunicable diseases (4) affecting organs ...

Our Recipe for Good Inclusive Research

open access: yesSocial Sciences
Co-researchers with intellectual disabilities and a Ph.D. student formed an inclusive research team. The co-researchers joined the inclusive research team so they could learn more about research and have control over the research.
