A Multi-Agent Proposal for the Resolution of BIBD Instances

open access: yesRevista Colombiana de Estadística, 2016
The problem with designing balanced incomplete blocks (BIBD) is enclosed within the combinatorial optimization approach that has been extensively used in experimental design.

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Intelligent Prediction of Ore Block Shapes Based on Novel View Synthesis Technology

open access: yesApplied Sciences
To address the problem of incomplete perception of limited viewpoints of ore blocks in future remote and intelligent shoveling-dominated mining scenarios, a method of using new view generation technology to predict ore blocks with limited view based on a

Uncovering Suspicious Activity From Partially Paired and Incomplete Multimodal Data

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2017
Multimodal data can be used to gain additional perspective on a phenomenon. For applications, such as security and the detection of suspicious activity, the need to aggregate and analyze data from multiple modes is vital.

Molecular cancer prevention: Intercepting disease

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Oncological practice must evolve, from treating established tumours to proactive cancer interception before clinical manifestation. This will require mechanistic insight into tumour initiation, validated biomarkers of early disease development and redesigned clinical trials, enabling cancer interception to become a core pillar of oncology with the ...

Incomplete handwritten Dongba character image recognition by multiscale feature restoration

open access: yesHeritage Science
Incomplete handwritten Dongba character often appears in heritage documents and its recognition is significant for heritage and philology. However, all previous methods always suppose that a complete Dongba character is used as input, and thus fail to ...

Tumor‐stromal crosstalk and macrophage enrichment are associated with chemotherapy response in bladder cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Chemoresistance in bladder cancer: Macrophage recruitment associated with CXCL1, CXCL5 and CXCL8 expression is characteristic of Gemcitabine/Cisplatin (Gem/Cis) Non‐Responder tumors (right side) while Responder tumors did not show substantial tumor‐stromal crosstalk (left side). All biological icons are attributed to Bioicons: carcinoma, cancerous‐cell‐

Differential regulation of ZFAS1 splice variants by endoplasmic reticulum stress in hepatocyte cell lines

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ZFAS1 is a lncRNA promoting cell proliferation and migration, exhibiting high expression in various cancers. It is conserved, widely expressed, and produces multiple splice variants with unclear roles. We identified several splice variants in hepatocyte models, and found that inhibiting or suppressing regulators of the unfolded protein response (PERK ...

Recursive Construction of Resolvable Nested Block Designs

open access: yesMathematics
This paper proposes a recursive method for constructing intra-resolvable balanced incomplete block designs (BIBDs). The approach exploits the algebraic and geometric structure of finite projective geometries over Galois fields to generate resolvable ...

Block combination–based asynchronous wake-up schedule in wireless sensor networks

open access: yesInternational Journal of Distributed Sensor Networks, 2017
In wireless sensor networks, when sensor nodes are operated with different ratios of active slots, this is called asymmetric duty cycles. Furthermore, cycles with the same ratio of active slots per cycle for all nodes are called symmetric duty cycles. In
