Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

A study of the incubation period, or age at onset, of the transmissible spongiform encephalopathies/prion diseases. [PDF]

open access: yes
In order to model epidemics of infectious diseases, particularly to estimate probable numbers of cases with onset at any particular time, it is necessaiy to incorporate a term for the incubation period frequency distribution. Sartwell's hypothesis states

Study on the Response of Net Primary Productivity to Vegetation Phenology and Its Influencing Factors in Karst Ecologically Fragile Regions

open access: yesAtmosphere
Net primary productivity (NPP) is a crucial indicator of ecosystem function and sustainability. Quantifying the response of NPP to phenological dynamics is essential for understanding the impact of climate change on ecosystem processes.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

The chicken embryo and its micro environment during egg storage and early incubation

open access: yes, 2008
When egg storage periods are prolonged (>7 days), hatchability and chick quality declines. The reason for this decline has been investigated, but is still not completely understood.

A SIMPLE INCUBATOR [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the American Medical Association, 1917
The success which we have had with an inexpensive and simple incubator, whch I devised for our use at St. Luke's, together with a number of requests from physicians, leads me to publish this description. The incubator as presented provides equable safe heat, adequate moisture, and a constant supply of circulating air.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Effect of egg turning and incubation time on carbonic anhydrase gene expression in the blastoderm of the Japanese quail (Coturnix c. japonica)

open access: yes, 2008
(1) The gene expression of carbonic anhydrase, a key enzyme for the production sub-embryonic fluid (SEF), was assessed in turned and unturned eggs of the Japanese quail.

The effect of soil incubation on bio self-healing of cementitious mortar [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Successful implementation of bacteria-based self-healing in cracked cementitious materials requires the provision of a suitable incubation environment, which can activate the bacteria to produce e.g. calcium carbonate sealing the cracks. Research to date
